All signs point to USF hiring Plant High coach Robert Weiner as receivers coach. Should help Bulls with pipeline to dominant local program.

Program will likely not be dominant in a couple years without Weiner there. He made that program

It was only a matter of time, IMO. I have a solid source that says usf has always loved the wiener.

From what Ive heard about Robert Weiner, I'd be very surprised if he took a gig as a WR coach. Dude seems like he needs to be in charge. The only thing I can think is that he doesnt have to relocate to take this gig.

Tampa Plant High coach Robert Weiner, who was named USF's WR coach Sunday, decides to remain at Plant

How can Stan Heith at USF consider bringing in a HS coach over Lamar Thomas to coach WR's. That's crazy LT has the technical background and would love to come back to Florida to coach.

Go Canes!

Glad this guy is finally officially the enemy, and we won't need anything from him anymore.

Didn't he just get the WKU job?

You mean Willie Taggart right?
The move to hire Weiner was intended to help with USF's recruiting in the area. Look at what has happened in the last 2 seasons with USF in the Tampa, St Pete and Manatee area. None of the highly rated players stay home. By stay home I mean in the city. Plenty of guys who if they stay and play together at USF, would have put them in a better position to where they are right now. Look at 'Bama's 3rd string QB Phillip Ely, he is from Tampa (Plant) as well doing diddly. Most of those guys never considered USF while in school.

By trying to pull Weiner it would have possibly given the program some standing with the local HC in hopes of getting them to steer players to USF. The move is no different from when Miami hired Ice Harris. Even though Harris, wasn't an official coach, his role would have been that of a mouthpiece from UM to the coaches in South Florida.
