For you scheme jockeys: development aside, is the depth we're building conducive to switching back to a 4-3? Would there be a lot of growing pains to revert back or do we still run enough of it where the transition would be fairly smooth? Would we be able to utilize tweeners like McCord? Thanks in advance for the comments.

IMO it's way easier to find true 4-3 DEs and DTs then 3-4 NTs, DE, OLBs.

I have a bad feeling we are going to waste a guy like AQM, amongst others. He's a prototypical college DE.

It's not your opinion, it's a fact.

You can run a dominating 3-4 D in college, but it's exceptionally difficult to coach it and find the right players to run it effectively.

Especially in Miami where most of the players in our backyard are guys that are more conducive to fit in the 4-3 D. To run the 3-4 in college, you better have an ace coordinator and you better be prepared to recruit nationally to get the beasts required to run the schemes optimately.

With this 3-4 scheme, Golden is making it 3x more difficult on himself in rebuilding the program.

Absolutely. Not only do you have to and find recruit these guys, you have to convince them to play a system they probably aren't used to, and then, most importantly, you have to get them to be bigger and stronger than everyone else. It's crazy to think that we are talking about the one recruiting base that, more than any other, is built on speed, and they want to use a defense that is based on less players, and more size up front.

Man you are so right... but AG's mind is made up...

A attacking style of the 3-4 defense could work with the pieces we have right now. But the two gap 3-4 we are running now is garbage. Let the athletes play down hill and attack.
