Many may have already saw on Twitter, but ICYMI big Miami offensive line target and 4-Star Arkansas product Stacey Wilkins announced last week he would be deciding on August 3rd, instead of the original early January/All-star game timeline he told us at the Opening. He also previously said he was set on taking all 5 of his officials (including Miami) before any decision, so it was enough to make me wonder.

After talking to a source close to the Wilkins recruitment, it’s clear he was having some major academic issues stemming from his 9th and 10th grade year that would have likely prevented him from potentially enrolling into two of his favorites, USC and Miami.

The plan now is to take two short officials back to back this weekend, Arkansas on Friday, Oklahoma on Saturday, and decide next Friday. Many national media have already predicted this, but my source is confident that choice will be OU, unless he has a major change of heart on his OV and wants to stay home at Arkansas.

Appreciate the word. In this dry spell - every tidbit is greatly appreciated.

Good or bad.

OU 2019 recruiting building some serious momentum... wouldn't shock me if they get RMac

I'm completely shocked that a kid from Arkansas doesn't have Miami as his top choice.

Stefan, general question for you...with the widespread availability of online/correspondence "retake" classes, how can a kid be prevented from enrolling by his 9th/10th grade classes? Why could he not retake these and be good to go anywhere? Plus, he has time to prep for the SAT/ACT. I'm very confused by guys that seem to be eligible to play HS sports (thus, not failing out of HS) but not enough coursework to play football in college. If it was a question of prerequisites (i.e., enough HS math to be able to take a business calculus class in college) that is one thing, but when you mention 9th/10th grade, it baffles me, as these are among the easiest HS classes to retake (especially social studies, English, and science, which are not necessarily progressive coursework in a sequential sense).

Interesting news maybe the flight was booked.

TOS article said his dad told them they couldn't get a decent flight that had less than a 4 hour layover. Should be something to remember if OU is a serious consideration - travel there not so easy

I am going to go in on this and say that to some degree, this kid's school and/or coaches may have dropped the ball. You are right; how did he get to be a senior and still not address bad grades from 9th grade? At the very least his coaches had to know he was planning on playng in college.
It is so important to have someone advocate for these kids - not all schools are staffed or equipped to stay on top of this. I live in a great school district with plenty of guidance staff and it is still a complaint here, too

His"issues" are not preventing him from playing college football, just not at USC or UM. It didn't say he could not get into OU.
