South Florida 3-stars > everyone else's 4-stars

"Three star" kids in South Florida are like 4th through 7th rounders...not much seperates them from 2nd or 3rd rounders (4* kids) they just usually dont check a box like they are a bit undersized or not fully developed or a bit raw or started late orbthey arent being recruited by top schools because their grades are horrendous . D$ is right, its about the dog thats in them and Coach Macho saying they are facing 4 and 5 stars on a regular basis is also true.

In reference to Choc Gray...yea...a rare miss...I still contend if he went to one of the lower end schools like USF or Cincy hed be a 1000 yd rusher or they would hsve moved him and hed have been a stud where he wouldnt have had to have him think **** through...just saw him as an athleye n let him work.

Isn’t this what made Butch great, talent evaluation?? No reason to think Richt could not do the same here.

Times have changed since then, you have less "diamonds in the rough" now days because of all the technology and scouts.

Let's be real here.

Butch built a great team, yes. The greatest of all time.

Ed Reed, Jeremy Shockey, DJ Williams, Clinton Portis, Ken Dorsey, Bryant McKinney, Brett Romberg, Kellen Winslow, Phillip Buchannon, Najeh Davenport, Reggie Wayne, etc

NOT ONE of those guys were from South Florida.

You take all of those guys off the team, and Butch Davis is Al Golden, and we never win the ship in 2001.

The whole myth that we EVER won with only South Florida kids is laughable.

We can go back even further in time, and here's the truth: We were a dynasty in the 80's and 90's because we lucked out and hired JIMMY JOHNSON. The greatest coach ever to do it. Better than Saban, better than Meyer.... the greatest. History has proven that to be correct - the man has won Super Bowls, college national titles, and he's built losers in to winners.

ELITE COACHING is why we won. Erickson rode the wave until the steam ran out. Just like Coker rode Butch's wave until the steam ran out there.

We won one title under Howard, but that team was not the world-beaters we would later become. Howard didn't build Miami. Jimmy Johnson is why "the U" still is one of the strongest brands in college football.

And all you guys are doing is latching on to some recruiting pitch Howard said 30+ years ago about the "state of Miami." It wasn't the case then, and it isn't the case now.

Texas has always laughed at the over inflated camps and has always thought some Florida kids got favors for being East coast biased.

Najeh Davenport was born and raised in North Carolina. He moved to Miami in 1994 when he was 15 years old.

Philip Buchanan was born in Illinois and played high school ball in Lehigh Acres, outside of Ft Meyers

Fck sakes, are you guys really arguing this? Dude got his numbers right and you still don't want to believe it because D$ posted some names? And accusing the OP of cherry picking to fit his preconceived idea is hilarious coming from a bunch of guys who refute data with "well there was this one guy...". Seriously, I haven't seen a single person use any numbers to back their claim that SFLA 3* are better than Ohio 3*. The truth is that there are more great football players in SFLA than anywhere else, but that doesn't mean that they are better than similarly ranked players from other areas. Move a SFLA 3* to NJ and sure he looks like a star, but his measurables don't change and everybody knows he's playing against lesser comp. He doesn't magically become a 4*.

How is this even an argument..... look at all the south Florida 3 stars Al Golden brought in. You can make an argument that we had as many good NJ 3 stars then we had south Florida 3 stars. For every Denzel Perryman, a 3 star from SFL, we had a 3 star from NJ in David Njoki etc.

Listen, hate it or not these recruiting sites are x100 better then they were 10, 15 years ago. They are also a lot more accurate to. 90% of the time 3 stars no matter the area are just 3 stars. Some of y'all think just because Vilma was a 3 star players back when recruiting services was hot **** compared to now that we can still build championship rosters from just south Florida 3 stars. (Isn't that the SAME **** thing y'all clowned Randy Shannon about? Mind Blown.)

Y'all sound like Nebraska fans. "Well, Osborne's Nebraska team has nothing but 3 stars and they won why can't we do that now." BECAUSE RECRUITING SERVICES ARE BETTER AND CAN EVALUATE MORE PLAYERS FOR X AMOUNT OF TIME BECAUSE OF THE ADVANCEMENT OF TECHNOLOGY.

Like I said, 90% of 3 stars are just 3 stars no matter the area. 3 stars are just average players more often then not and it applies to south Florida to.

I agree times have changed, like if u watch ray lewis film u see a baller. We dont know if that was available or the resources available to other schools during those times. That dude would not be a hidden gem or a sean taylor........they find those guys now

Whoever thinks times have not changed they ;iving in the past. Some evals like Garvins go missed because they didnt camp, most kids now r attention whores and will camp to get twitter followers and build there brand so those hidden gems are more rare now then ever before.

How the **** can someone judge players coached by Golden. All evaluations should be null particularly in the defensive side. Bandy was a 3 star FL recruit. And i use rivals for these, i think they are the most reliable.

Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Bandy was a composite 4 star and actually his highest rating grade came from rivals who rated him 109 overall
Bad example. Garvin, Ford and Amari Carter were 3 stars by rivals. Those are going to be serious players.

People mistake stars for quantity of players.....sfla has the most quantity of studs thats rarely go unoticed. Theres a chance that a three star can be a stud but u have to watch there recruitment and why they were under rated....theres alot of things that go into effect. Sometimes kids dont camp sometime few elite schools notice a player. Its just the quantity of talent in sfla allows u to just chill there as a coach n find someone.

Clemson (the best dl evalutors in the country at this point) wanted garvin bad thats all i need to know to sayhes going to be a stud and he didnt camp. If he did he would be ranked higher kids go to camps to earn there ranking. How many times u hear a kid say im hoping to get thatfourth or fifth star? Carter was wanted by ND....Ford i have no clue about and dont know if he camped.
