Along with edge rusher, DT has become a position where we have begun seeing South Florida produce several Power 5-caliber recruits each class. This class, we have a handful of guys that I think will be excellent contributors at the next level.
Dimitry Nicolas, Norland (6'4" 295) - Pace transfer. Prototypical DT frame with long arms & huge lower body. Wins reps with brute strength. First step looks like he is shot out of an FN 57. Playmaker. 8 sacks and 23 TFLs as a junior. Maryland signee.
Daylen Russell, Columbus (6'3" 270) - Miami Dade County Defensive Player of the Year as a junior. Played DE in high school but projects as a pure 3-tech at the next level. Lightning quick off the ball & uses his hands very well. 10 sacks as a junior. Also throws shot put. Miami signee.
Jamorie Flagg, Booker T. Washington (6'3" 300) - Nose tackle frame but fluid mover like a 3 tech. 6 sacks and 16 TFLs as a junior. Plays like a bull in a china shop. Bull rush is nearly unguardable. Also plays basketball. FSU signee.
Justin Bodford, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'0" 295) - Western transfer. Space-eating fire hydrant with powerful lower body. 12 sacks and 19 TFLs as a senior. Was able to cause ruckus against a loaded St. John Bosco offense. Mizzou signee.
Chenellson Exume, Edison (6'4" 250) - Two-way lineman with agility & strength. Great blocker on the OL and may have had a better future there. Twin brother of edge rusher prospect Dinellson. Also played basketball & threw discus, javelin and shot put. USF signee.
Germaine Carter, Norland (6'1" 260) - Carol City transfer. Dominant junior year with 19 sacks and 25 TFLs, followed by 8 and 19 as a senior. Fits the modern profile of the 5'11"-6'1", 280-300 lb 3 tech to a T. Lightning quick off the snap with great swim move. Shows great functional strength with ability to bull rush the opposing guard. Power 5 teams weary of size. FIU signee.
Robert Williams, Columbus (6'3" 270) - Good frame with great quickness off the snap. Can beat you with a swim move or a straight-up bull rush. Regional qualifier in the shot put. FIU signee.
Gabriel Birnbaum, Monarch (6'3" 260) - Boca Raton High transfer. Absolutely outrageous production with 35 sacks and 88 TFLs the last two seasons. Wins reps with maniac motor & great hand placement. FAU signee.
Brekien Harold, Chaminade Madonna (6'2" 315) - Started out at Blanche Ely, then did some time at Cardinal Gibbons before finishing up at Chaminade. Enormous nose tackle with raw power & pretty good movement ability. 4.5 sacks and 14 TFLs as a senior. FAMU signee.
