BOOM!

Most people look at South Florida's money positions as RB, WR, and DB. Historically, they are absolutely right. However, we have seen a meteoric rise in pass rushers coming out of the region. This year's crop is much deeper than 2023 & has several guys with legit NFL potential. Let's take a peek.

Armondo Blount, Miami Central (6'3" 250) - Dillard transfer. Has been playing varsity since middle school. One of the most hyped prospects in the last few years. Wins reps with good bend, brute strength and freakish power. Elite shotput/discus thrower. Reminds me of a slightly longer, slightly less productive Rueben Bain. Miami signee.

Amaree Williams, The Benjamin School (6'4" 215) - Two way star at both WR and edge rusher. Track athlete (11.05 100, 6'1.5" high jump) and it shows in his lightning-quick first step. Wins reps with speed rush & efficient swim move. Must get bigger & stronger. Reclassified from 2025 class. Dad, Moe, played RB at Kentucky and enjoyed a 10 year NFL career. FSU signee.

Dylan Stephenson, Columbus (6'5" 235) - Killian transfer. 15 sacks as a sophomore. Physically looks the part of a 5 star pass rusher with freakish wingspan. Despite all that size & athleticism, has the tendency to not be very physical. Finesse pass rusher that must toughen up and develop physicality. If he can stop being soft, he has unlimited potential. 11.82 100. Brother, Darian, was a walk-on LB at Miami during the Richt/Diaz years. Grandfather, Malcolm Simmons, played DB at Miami in the 70s. Stanford signee.

Willis McGahee IV, Columbus (6'1" 225) - Palmetto transfer. Juiced up QB terrorist with elite speed-to-power conversion. Track background. 11.24 100 but plays even faster. Had a good junior year but absolutely exploded as a senior with 16 sacks, 25 TFLs, 7 forced fumbles & 3 defensive touchdowns. Plays with his hand in the dirt some but projects as a pure 3-4 OLB at the next level. Son of 10 year NFL veteran & one of the greatest RBs in Canes history. Nebraska signee.

Shamar Meikle, Miramar (6'4" 210) - Broward County Defensive Player of The Year. Had a good junior year (9.5 sacks, 21.5 TFLs) but had an absolutely outrageous senior year with 26.5 sacks, 36 TFLs and 11 pass breakups. Has a knack for blocking punts & field goal attempts. Long and wiry. Wins reps with great bend & lightning quick first step. Claims 4.52 40. Oregon State signee.

Zachary Crothers, Chaminade Madonna (6'4" 235) - Muscular bull rush specialist with great production. 13 sacks and 33.5 TFLs as a senior, preceded by 16 sacks and 41 TFLs as a junior. Big time player that made big time plays against the best teams in America. Needs to work on pass rush moves. Pitt signee.

Tyclean (6'3" 245) and Tycoolhill Luman (6'4" 250), Norland - Twins from Montreal that came to the states in high school. Tyclean played at Miami International Academy as a sophomore, then they both played at Jackson as juniors before transferring to Norland for their senior years. Muscular trench bullies that win reps with brute power & great motor. Combined for 25 sacks & 55 TFLs as juniors. Thick frames and could grow into DTs. Rutgers signees.

Kedrick Burley, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'2" 240) - Started out at Deerfield Beach, then Santaluces, then finished his last season with the Raiders. Was a rotational LB until his senior year, when he detonated like a nuclear warhead with 25 sacks and 55 TFLs. Plays like a roided-up cokehead, respectfully. Absolutely raised **** during STA's playoff run. Reminds me of 2023 STA LB prospect Keyshawn Johnson, who, similarly, was under the radar until his outrageous senior year & was an FCS Freshman All-American at Grambling State this past season. Claims 4.74 40. Extremely underrated. Middle Tennessee State signee.

Gavench Marcelin, Belen Jesuit (6'1" 245) - Sawed-off heatseeking missile with video game numbers. Finished varsity career with 52.5 sacks and over 140 TFLs. Plays with his hair on fire & a boulder on his shoulder. Also a very good thrower on the track and field team. Lack of length made Power 5 teams back away. Claims 4.69 40. FAU signee.

Devon Byrd, Cardinal Newman (6'2" 195) - Atlantic transfer. Multi-sport athlete that started out career as a safety before moving into a stand-up edge rusher role. 18 sacks and 22 TFLs as a senior. Very athletic & lightning quick off the snap. Also runs track & plays basketball. Because of frame, likely projects as an off-ball LB at the next level. USF signee.

Dinellson Exume, Miami Edison (6'4" 235) - Explosive edge rusher with great size & a smooth speed-to-power transition. 10 sacks and 19.5 TFLs as a junior. Also a talented thrower on the track and field team. USF signee.

Joshua Lloyd, Blanche Ely (6'2" 235) - Started out at Deerfield, then Dillard, before moving to Blanche Ely as a senior. Lightning quick with great bend. 86 tackles and 9 sacks as a senior. Frame may suggest a move to off-ball LB. Western Michigan signee.

Damaine Wilson, Coconut Creek (6'2" 215) - Spindly pass rusher with great pursuit. 60 tackles, 8 sacks and 3 forced fumbles as a junior. Also played MLB, where he may project best in college. Georgia State signee.

Auston Francis, Cardinal Gibbons (6'2" 235) - Active defender with great motor and pursuit. Muscular frame & may fit best as an off-ball LB. Army signee.

Marlon Huff, Atlantic (6'3" 235) - Started out at Spanish River, then Dillard before finishing at Atlantic. Great senior year with 9 sacks and 22 TFLs. Explosive off the edge & hits with a hard pop. Must work on pass rush moves. Tennessee State signee.

Joe Shimko, Martin County (6'4" 250) - Port St. Lucie Centennial transfer. Big body defensive end with quick swim move & powerful hands. May grow into DT. 7 sacks and 21 TFLs as a junior. Bowling Green signee.
