No question what Saban and Alabama has done is impressive, BUT comparing Saban to coaching giants and labelling Alabama a dynasty are not somethings I'm willing to do. If Ohio State wasn't on sanctions, Alabama would've been watching the game with the rest of us. I just don't see the dominate team the media freaking creams over. They beat a team they should have. I'm sorry they are not a dynasty, just a product of what media and money can do for conference. That's the only conference that gets to stack the odds in their favor.

Alabama benefits from being in a conference that does NOT have to go undefeated to play in title games, while everyone else has to sweat to make it there. **** they've had two 1 loss teams play in the title game. The SEC benefits from the media idolization that pushes money and great players to them because of the perception that the "best" football is played there. There is no parody in college football anymore. I heard analysts abusing that word to validate the great feat of Saban. Parody means everyone has a shot at the title, we all know that's not true. The media would soil themselves for an all-SEC title game and the 4 team playoff system will virtually guarantee it. Their boosters fund the NCAA.

I might be wrong, but the SEC has incredible advantages that may be tough for any of the other conferences to match. Is it fair to say that Alabama, Saban, and the SEC benefit from a broken football system and media peddling? It's just amazing how nauseating college football has become. I grew up in an era where the SEC was just another conference busting their *** to get to title game and being undefeated truly meant something. There was no bias, it was just football. Now it's a dog and pony show.

The SEC will continue to win and play in title games until true parody returns to college football. I hope it returns in the form of the Miami Hurricanes.
Just my 2 cents....

I agree that college football has become a parody of college football and that there really isn't parity in college football.

Not sure how good a team Alabama is in the great scheme of things, but this demonstrates how the BCS is messed up more than it shows that Alabama is not that good.

I stopped reading after you said Alabama was not a dynasty and saban was not a coaching giant.

Take off the glasses. He has 4 national championships in 8 years of being a head coach.

Yeah, and if Bubbah didn't lobby like crazy in 2000, and if a flag wasn't thrown in Tempe, we'd be the last three peat champs.....

This is a never ending discussion.....

I didn't say that and if you stopped reading there than that's a shame. It's all perception man. No to need bash someone's opinion. And the glasses label doesn't fit me at all.

As impressive as the 3 out 4 is, Alabama has lost 5 games in the last 3 seasons. Don't know what conclusion is to be drawn from that.

Alabama is a dynasty.

Saban is one of the best college coaches in the last 30 years.

How many "great" coaches have gone their whole careers only winning one NC?

Saban has one 4 in 8 years of being a HC and 3 out of the last 4.

Yes, I'm sure he's getting a TON of help from the boosters recruiting wise, but he still has to coach the team up and prepare them for big games like last night.

It's the truth, as much as I hate to admit it.

Good points RB. I agree Saban is an outstanding coach.

We only wish that Pdee and DS hadn't gone PC stupid after the Coker fiasco. We got what we paid for. Bunch of blue light specials as coaches... And results to match!

OP left out the fact that the SEC has actually had 2 loss teams go to title. Even more reason to hate.

Did you just argue about what you "didn't say" when it is right there to read?

Geez. all I said was that I wasn't willing to compare him to coaching giants. Never said if he was or wasn't.

That's a good fact that bring up. The SEC doesn't have to go undefeated.
The conference has won the last seven national titles. It's representatives don't have to go undefeated to be there, because year in year out three of the top five and eight of the top 25 teams are in that conference

If you're "not willing to compare him to coaching giants" then you are saying he isn't a coaching giant.

confused.webp

They ****ed up by promoting Coker in the first place. He had no right to be an hc at miami. His ineptitude made it seem as if Shannon might be qualified, lol.

Right or wrong, the SEC pretty much has an automatic bid into the BCS game. That changes soon.

They will probable end up with two teams in the playoffs.

The SEC does get the benefit of the doubt. Last year Oregon lost to LSU, and dropped many spots to 11, iirc. Bama lost to LSU and dropped just a couple of spots, to 3 or 4, iirc.
