For as much crap as they have gotten for being "the worst DL in Miami history" these dudes certainly seem to step up when their purpose is singular and the other team just needs a yard.

I don't have any stats but it seems countless times this year we have seen 3rd or 4th and 1, or GL situations and these guys seem to find another gear.

They have taken a ton of heat so I think some praise is ok too from time to time.

Dorito and Jethro...... Also does anyone know the actual stat on our amount of turn overs this year over last year ?

espn had a stat that said for the first time since 2007 we are + in turnovers. As in we've recovere more turnovers than we give up....that's kinda embaressing it's been that many years

LOL no wonder we would lose 2-3 times a year to teams we should have beat ...... and props to morris on not throwing picks

And not just our DL stepping up, I think next year wit 10 returning starters this defense is gonna be nastier to we think. I think opposing teams who send players across the middle are gonna get killed and have ruptured vertebrates from Bush, EJ, DP. These kids are just now stating to fully grasp the system and are not thinking about the play happening rather they are reacting and making plays. Another Utough ad a full spring of this sme EXACT defensive unit working together + a physical Jamal Carter, a sophmore Tracy Howard, a sophmore Tyriq, a Sophmore Kirby.....next years Defense could be mean and nasty

Good post. My expectations were insanely low, I admit, but I really just wanted to see a different mentality as the season went along, even if we still give up a ton of yards.

We are seeing guys make plays quite often for the first time in a long time and guys are getting comfortable. I know it's not anything to go crazy over but I like what I am seeing right now going forward.

And they "should" only get better these last three games. We did that to Va Tech without Perryman for nearly the whole game (he hurt us more than helped), and Bush for the second half. Some extra rest this weekend, then end the season playing against slower/less athletic opponents. Expect lots of stunts and misdirection, with a better turnover ratio than first half of season. It's starting to be fun to watch. Really glad Porter is back.

I think it's brewing into a perfect storm for the ACCCG if we make it and get the rematch with FSU...our defense could be coming on just at the right time and we may be able to surprise a over confident Intitled FSU squad

Would like to see Hamilton and Williams get playing time.

Chick and Shayon need some rest.

I think Olsen Pierre has really gotten better over the year. The "flashes" in play have become more consistent.

Yeah buddy. I liked seeing our DL trying to bat down passes too. McCord looked like a ******* basketball player a few times.

Pierre is making plays. Our best DL right now.

I couldn't help but laugh at Ivery on Thursday. Poor guy couldn't get out of his own way. Got yanked out the game and then kicked a football on the sideline and took a seat on the bench. LOL

I do find it refreshing that Smith didn't play a snap.

God bless (and protect) Curtis Porter.

Anyone else a big Shayon fan? He's a warrior.

Luther is proving to be a valuable asset playing two positions.

McCord makes plays.

This unit could be a strength next year with all the experience everyone's getting.

I think Pierre will play on Sundays. There was a time when we redshirted guys like William Joseph. Remember Joseph's RS Frosh year? He was ok, but very much on and off before he was moved inside. We didn't have the luxury of RSing Pierre last year. He should be a RS Frosh.

True story: I was the first person Pierre met in Miami. Picked him up at the airport for his visit the week before the Son Bowl. Cool dude.

Warrior is a pretty good way to describe Green. Maybe if he hasn't ripped his knee all up he might have had a better career but he still isn't really a DE. But he definitely gives it his all and makes some nice crashing plays from time to time.

i wouldn't take it THAT far. I still think our O line, DBs, RBs, LBs are better and will be better than the DL next year.

especially if they come off a emotional win/loss vs UF.
