I was looking through the USC board and found some notes from one of their main writers today. Some interesting tidbits....
Four-star 2023 RB Mark Fletcher
Fletcher absolutely loved his trip, it was hard for him to contain his excitement when I spoke to him. USC definitely made a move into the top group with Alabama, Penn State and Miami; I would be shocked if USC didn't get an official visit down the line, assuming they stay on him.
Five-star 2023 CB Cormani McClain
McClain was on his way out so I had to do the old "walk-and-talk" interview, which made it quicker than I would have liked. Not a big talker, but you could tell Donte Williams is having an impact. But you could also tell Alabama was clearly one of his top schools. If demeanor literally changed when I asked about the Crimson Tide. SC is on the outside looking in, but Williams can keep them around.
Five star 2023 WR Brandon Innis
Two interesting, if no unexpected comments cam from Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) five-star wide receiver Innis last weekend. First, he told reporters that he would not make a commitment until the early signing period. Second, Inniss told us that the next visit to USC would be an official visit. He implied that visit may not come until later in the year. Now, speaking to multiple sources close to Inniss, there’s reason to believe that’s not how his recruitment will play out.
First, we’re told that the family is already making plans to be back in Los Angeles before an official visit, perhaps for the Trojans’ spring game. Inniss’ family even hinted that they would be back in L.A. soon. For this past visit, his mom, dad and sister all make it to USC with him. While Inniss arrived with his South Florida Express teammates Friday, he and his family did spend one-on-one time with Lincoln Riley. Nobody thinks Inniss will wait until after he season to make a commitment either. That’s obviously just an educated guess by sources, but it was a consensus view.
Now, this does not mean Inniss’ commitment is a forgone conclusion to USC. It’s safe to say USC is his current favorite, but some believe Inniss will eventually end up at Alabama. And there was a lot of Alabama talk among the South Florida Express squad last week. The Crimson Tide are evidently making a big push for Inniss, so we’ll see how his trip to Tuscaloosa goes in April. Inniss will also unofficially visit Ohio State April 1. — Gerard Martinez
