A few thoughts on week 13 of college football after another great Saturday 'Footballpalooza' at Coach JB's Touchdown Bar and Cigar Lounge...

- I have to admit, I was not a fan of the 12-team playoff format. Personally, I thought 8 was perfect. But seeing how so many games have some sort of playoff implication of some sort has changed my mind. In the past games that otherwise didn't have all that much meaning are now meaningful. One example was Florida-Ol Miss. That loss by Lane Kiffin's squad has huge implications for them (and the SEC)

Next week, these games: Texas-Texas A@M, Miami-Syracuse, Notre Dame-USC are in essence, pre-playoff games that will help formulate the post-season. Also a game like Clemson-South Carolina could really matter.

- I know it's a back handed compliment (that nobody wants) but Kansas might be the best 6 team loss in the country. I wasn't stunned that they beat a streaking Colorado team. But they were ''thisclose'' to being a 9-10 win team coming into yesterday. They lost a bunch of close, excruciating games (a few in the last minutes) but Lance Leipold didnt suddenly forget how to coach, and Jalon Daniels has looked more like himself in the second half of the season.

They punched Colorado in the mouth - and didn't stop.

Seeing some of the pre-game festivities for that game at Arrowhead, I saw guys being honored for Senior Day like Devin Neal, Cobee Bryant, Luke Grimm, Jared Casey and Mello Dotson. Those guys should be fondly remembered by the KU fan-base, they were the foundation of this rebuild

- A lot of coach of the year discussions are taking place, well, as far as Im concerned Rhett Lashlee should be in it. Last year, they only lost 3 games, but all of them came against P5 opponents. Well, that hasn't been an issue this season and his squad has taken off since he inserted Kevin Jennings as his quarterback. SMU gambled on themselves and made concessions to get into the ACC, and it's absolutely paid off

- Even with some injuries on the Oline, I still feel Ohio St has the best overall roster in college football

- Speaking of Ol Miss, they went all in this season and if they are left out of the 12-team tournament, this season will be a buzzkill for them, bottom line. A ton of resources were poured into this roster

- I'll say this again, Jalen Milroe is an incredible athlete. Not sure he is a QB at the next level. But I do thin he can be what Kordell Stewart was in his 'Slash' role early in his Steelers career

- Watching the Auburn-Texas A@M thriller, I hate what they have done with the overtime rule

- Hats off to Billy Napier for the way he has rallied his troops in Gainsville. He was a dead man walking in mid-September

I agree—season has been awesome. Doesn’t hurt that UM is in the mix. Cignetti has to be in the COTY conversation—he’s having the best season in his school’s history.

Might be top 5 Saturdays I’ve ever seen

It was glorious.

And I’m calling for an upset next week in Los Angeles - ND shocked by USC. THEY

Pains me to complement anything UT but Napier deserves a lot of credit for pulling that thing together.

there is no doubt that Miami's success has enhanced our enjoyment of this season. I think it's like this for every fan base...

I say this fully aware of our glaring deficiencies, but if we make the playoffs, I like our chances just as much as anybody else's.

call me nuts, but if Miami leans into the run game a bit more and Damari Brown can actually return and be the guy we think he is, Miami is a tough out for anybody this season on any given day
