We're now 8 games in and halfway through ACC play. We're 7-1 (3-1).

[These questions have nothing to do with the post season, just regular season]

1. Before the season how many of you would have been surprised at 7-1 at this point?

2. With Duke gone and our offense play lacking (10 Turnovers in ACC Play), what are your expectations for our next 4 games?

3. For just ACC play, how do you account for our 3-1 performance (i.e. running game, defense keeping points of the board etc.)?

4. If we beat VT, do your expectations change for the final 3 games?

I'll play

1. Surprised? No, but I thought we would be 6-2. I thought we'd lose 2 of 3 to UF, FSU and UNC (didn't think UNC would be the dumpster fire they were).
2. I have no expectations, because this team surprises me (good and bad) each week. We can go 4-0, we can go 1-3. Neither would shock me.
3. Maturity. Last year's team wasn't mature enough to comeback against GT, UNC or Wake
4. Yes. I think we win out.

1. A little surprised because I thought we might lose 2 games, but happy with the 7-1 start. We need to build off that and not let the F$U game beat u again.
2. The offense will continue to be inconsistent because our QB is inconsistent
3. The team has grown up and trust the system
4. We beat VT and the ACCG is ours for the taking.

My responses

1. I thought we would be 6-2 at this point. I am surprised.

2. I don't know, I expect our offense to continue to have problems without Duke Johnson. I expect Morris to throw at least 1 INT per game as well. I expect to struggle on offense against VT as we try to get our stable of RBs to carry the load. I am hoping our defense can continue to carry us and keep points of the board. I am hoping Dorsett comes back soon as well, we need him on those deep routes.

If Duke was healthy, I would say I like our chances the rest of the way.

Without Duke, 3-1 would not shock me.

3. Good running game and a defense keeping points of the board. I could not imagine how difficult it is for a defense to have to deal with 10 turnovers in 4 games. That is 10 more possessions. Also the experience and maturity.

4. If we beat VT and establish some run game, I expect to win out.

If we got by UF I knew we could get to Fsu undefeated. The schedule is quite easy this year and the kids were a year older. I had us in 9-3/10-2 range. So , I'm not too surprised.

1. I thought we would be 6-2 at this moment. I felt outside of UF/FSU we should win all the others.

2. Going off of how i seen this offense finish last season. I thought our offense would be foot stomping fools(kinda FSU like) Yet seeing what we really are, and now the loss of Duke. Morris is just not coming along like i was wishing, and no threat atm of a back to carry this team. It's hard for me to see us walking out of these next 4 games 4-0.

3. These guys have become fighters for 4 qtrs. With the exception of the FSU game. Which is why we now have a loss. Yet even though they had a let down. Previous squads would have choked the GT,UNC, and Wake games.

4. I think regardless what happens vs VT. Every week is going to be a death match. Unless the real Stephen Morris comes out his shell.

The real Stephen Morris HAS come out of his shell. He's a not-very-bright south Florida QB who never should have been recruited here.

1. I would have been surprised at the beginning to be 7-1 now. Over achieving team that is a direct correlation to The Don.

2. There is zero doubt that Duke going down was a bigger lose than us losing to F$U. It really blows. Hate it for the kid. We relied heavily on Duke to gain yards and I do think this could possibly open things up for the play calling, execution is another thing. It's up to Morris to get that done. There is potential.

3. It seems we have worn ACC teams down in the second half of most games. The d line play has been horrible, I hate the stunts the ends are doing because they take so long to get back to pressuring the QB and teams run plays right where the DE used to be. That takes the DE out of quick developing plays. Our LB and Dline tackling has been the most frustrating thing about this team. When we get pressure we seem to whiff on the tackle a larger percent of the time.

4. If we beat VT, we will win the rest of our games and play F$U in Charlotte.

1) Im a bit surprised but not totally given that UNC is having a really bad year. (as is UVA) Those are the teams that have had our number when we have bad coaching staffs.

2) I think we will be a better offense without Duke Johnson. Why? Because now James Coley will have to do his **** job!! Seriously, he wont be able to beat down the one player who could bail him out over and over. Look for a lot more creativity from our O going forward.

Also - Im of the opinion that Crawford-Clements-Hagens will step up and prove to be UM caliber backs, which I truly think they all are. Just needed their chance.

3) Not sure specifically what you're asking but in general Im happy with this year's level of talent in relation to the previous few years. We're getting to the point where we should be able to out-athlete much of the Coastal division.

4) no change in expectation. We're good enough to win all of our remaining games. If we drop one (like to Dook) it will simply mean we're still not at the level we know we need to get to.

Were we better against UNC when Duke went down? I'd say for 2 quarters weren't. We looked good in the 4th, but was that because Coley did his job and didn't rely on Duke? I'd say he relied on Dallas who bailed him out.

1) Some what surprised, but didn't think it was out of the realm of possibility. I was also under the impression that we had a potential 1st-2nd round pick at QB

2) My expectation this year was 9-10 wins. I really don't know what to make of this team. If Morris can regain any forum of himself then there is no reason not to be 4-0. If not then I would say 2-2 at worst.

3) We've done well. Right now I am one of Morris' biggest critics. His lack of production and lack of ability to move the ball consistently has put a lot of pressure on the defense and special teams units. Playing almost entire quarters at a time and needing 50+ yard punts.

4) If we beat VaTech no reason we can't finish 3-0

We need Duke, we need him because he is our playmaker. We need Duke because our QB is averaging 2 INTs per game in ACC Play. Duke offers something we don't have, we will miss him.

1 - Thought we'd be 6-2 or 5-3. Losses to UF, FSU, and drop a game we should have won. So I'm happy with the way the season is so far

2 - more balanced with pass/run but the passes will be safe, high percentage throws. I think we try to get Crawford going and run him a ton but we'll need to get WR involved because of the loaded box. More draws/screens against VT to slow the pass rush

3 - Offensive line imposing their will on opposite dlines except for FSU. Run game dominated Wake and Unc for the most part. We've also had some luck go our way this year with the unc getting a delay on 4th and short.

4 - I expect us to get to the acc championship at the least. I think we can beat VT but they will make Morris throw which is a coin flip. I think the Duke game will be harder than people think. Don't forget, we're the ranked team so everyone is gunning for us, if we don't stay focused VT or Duke could upset.

1) I would have done backflips for a 7-1 record. I dont care how soft people say the schedule is.

2) I think we end up 10-2. I think we beat VaTech but slip up against either VA or PITT.

3) I think we are finally asserting ourselves. the ACC is what it is. A 4 team conference. (FSU, UM, Clem, Vatech). Just like most other conferences are. People clown the ACC but we are just as top heavy as most other conferences.

4) If we beat VaTech, I think we lose one more. More then likely PITT. I just have a bad feeling about that game. I hope im wrong.

Why would we be surprised? The only team i thought we might lose to is UF but they are significantly worse than any 1 imagined. You are acting like we are beating teams like Bama, our sched has been really soft.

Let me understand, the only reason we're 7-1 is because our SOS is soft?

As for UF, I am just curious if you are aware they have had significant injuries this season?
