Briles runs the Veer & Shoot Offense, it’s the Veer rushing attack with the Run & Shoot passing attack...

It’s similar to the new adapted Air Raid+Spread, but it’s not the same.

Some similar concepts but fundamentally different.

And for the 100th time, Tom Herman is not coming back to college this year, he’s still being paid by Texas & he put it out through his agent literally a week ago that he has no interest in college right now, he’s staying in the NFL until his Texas contract runs out, Texas still owes him about $13-15mill.
It's the same offense as this man....

not funny GIF

K.Briles would be a home run hire. He fits the Mario requirements as his offense can run the ball but also air it out. People will crush him for his years at FSU but he overachieved with the poor Oline they had there.

I like Briles, my only concern is that in that Baylor offense that he and Lebby run is that Running the QB is a big part of the offense and obviously with TVD we won’t be running it. The Wake Forrest OC is intriguing and I’d think he would leave Clawson to run his own offense.

From what I saw of D’eriq at Houston, there wasn’t an excessive use of designed quarterback run plays. Most of D’eriq’s runs were scrambles.

I am more concerned about the transition to running a run and shoot based passing game than him beating up TVD running the football.

Whats the chances of likens staying as a pass game coordinator if we dont get brady

Every point you make is valid. He is a great recruiter. He is a great LB’s coach. Lastly, he is the brains at UGA. He does ALL the game planning and he teaches the defense every week what they need to do. I can’t get personal, but trust me he’s a HUGE get and a **** football genius. He’s a fantastic fit anywhere. Here, even without the same talent, he’s a competitive advantage. Imagine knowing we’re the most prepared team. I wouldn’t expect anyone to win every game, but he’ll be the best here in two decades
Obviously I'm just on the outside looking in so all my opinions aren't based on any insight.. It is obvious that he can recruit and coach LBs as well. Everything else, I'll take your word for it.

That’s why I like Briles here. It brings some continuity with Tvd. Also his Fsu run looks pretty good if you compare to FSU the previous year.
That's exactly right. In fact, their PPG rose around 7 points and their YPG increased by around 50 yards.

I've sort of switched to Briles #1 and Ponce #2 once I looked at what they actually do with an O. Also, I don't know how committed Brady is to the run game and Briles IS dedicated to a strong run game.

If Brady comes, I'll shift and get behind it, but if Mario were to call me and say, "Hello, perfect stranger! Who should be my OC?" I would definitely say Briles.

the tweet has the read of someone trying to get more/better from UM imho. If it was about trying to get an NFL offer I would think it would read as he'sgettingreallyreallyclose to signing with UM guys so you NFL cats better offer him now.

What is Art Briles up to? Seriously though, since Brady would only be a two year rental and UM wouldn't be on the hook long term, pay him what he's asking. I think TVD would put up video game numbers in Bradys offense and it would give UM the best chance of knocking off TAMU and Clemson (at least one of the two) and having a shot at the playoffs. Cristobal could electrify the program in his first year if he hits it out of the park with the OC hire. I hope UM doesn't revert to old habits and try to be cheapskates again.

Yep it was put out for a reason. We’ll find out soon what that reason was.

I’ve heard he’s got NFL interest still so that’s legit. Might be in a PGC role in the NFL though instead of full-out OC. They just want the Saints system and concepts.

Btw if Dillingham bolts for Oregon, FSU will also have OC options...would this affect Briles potentially? Although he knows how terrible that QB room is, so I figure he's too smart to make the same mistake twice.
Heen goin back there….IMO.

At this point we need to just shut down the program. What’s the point if all our OC targets suck? I have seen enough evidence on this board that Brady, Briles, Mullen and the rest of the targets have zero chance of working out here.
Don't lose faith...we're still working on the ghost of Bill Walsh.

Of course it was put out there for a reason. To either make Miami or college teams up their money or to let nfl teams know he's wanting to come back. Either way it was for a reason.

Yeah, more than 2 years is unreasonable for someone to agree to. The market has been set - if you’re an OC and you do well for 1-2 years, you’re gonna get HC offers.
Which is why I don’t buy that “report”. **** Mario knows this too. In the coaching business, you can’t lock nobody in for more than 2yrs.
