Has anyone ever left a HC job at a mid major to be an OC at a bigger program without getting canned? Hope it happens but gotta wonder the rationale unless it's more pay and he wants to live in Miami
In 2006, Nick Holt left Idaha to go back to USC to be their DC. I believe there are maybe one or two others but can't remember.

So is Jason Candle any good?

Pretty sure @JayCane20 said something.

Yea @JayCane20 was on this first... and the CIS detectives went to work. Wasn't hard to figure who it might be after deciphering the choices.
Candle is obviously great candidate and most likely really wants the job. I'm sure his agent let it slip to someone that he's been in contact.

Don't think its a money ploy - he probably really wants to get the **** away form the G5 bs and play some real football.

Anyways - Really Really good coach

Plus his window to get promoted to a better HC job may have closed. Would be a monster hire.
Reading the article that I posted and it sounds like the folks up that way are already talking about buyout scenarios. Didn't realize it had gotten to that point but they've had a string of average seasons since we played them and coming to Miami might be a nice golden parachute.

Oh man I know season four is starting any day, I thought it may have already started, and that was a little bit of a spoiler. I don’t remember her pointing a gun in seasons one through three, but it’s been a couple years since I saw the last episode it seems like. Can’t wait for the new season.
I'm not sure if I remember seeing her point a gun either but if she did it would have been season 3 as her character evolved. Man she's aged well. Still has a world class rack after all these years.

Toledo Total Offense Rankings with him at OC :
2012: 32nd
2013: 39th
2014: 15th
2015: 30th

Total Offense Rankings with him as head coach: (apparently he's still the play caller?)
2016: 7th
2017: 14th
2018: 30th
2019: 36th
2020: 13th
2021: 38th

On his philosophy:

Since Jason Candle took over the play-calling duties at Toledo, the Rockets have averaged at least 31.5 points per game in each season and have twice led the MAC in scoring. Candle kept it rolling when he became the program's head coach and in his first season the Rockets put up 38 points per game, averaged 7.2 yards per play, and finished 10th in S&P+'s adjusted offensive ratings. He's one of college football's best offensive coaches. In this scheme, the Rockets run a modern day spread offense with tempo involved. On Saturday, you will see the quick hitting dart run that Chip Kelly made famous at Oregon. You will see multiple RPOs and zone read actions. There are even some option elements such as a midline read sprinkled in. Toledo wants to spread the field and make opposing defenses guard in space. Last season the Rockets put up 40.4 points per game and that ranked ninth in the FBS

Didn't leave for an OC job at a bigger program, but Rocky Long left SDSU for the DC job at New Mexico after a 10 win season at SDSU.
