It isn't Briles at OC and it isn't Schumann at DC. Where that leaves us I have no effin clue. What I will say is that if it's Ponce at OC and Hurtt at DC then the honeymoon will be over before it started. I don't honestly think that Mario would string things out this long only to reveal a pair of deuces. Mario has built the suspense up to the point where anything less than a Royal Flush will be a disappointment.

My question to you guys is this ......What hires at OC and DC would you consider a Royal Flush?

To me a Royal Flush would be

OC Sean Lewis.
DC Jim Leonhard.

I don't expect Leonhard but you get the idea.
My royal flush:

OC: Mike Kafka (WE KNOW IT WON'T HAPPEN ITS MY ROYAL FLUSH DAMMIT)
DC: Doug Belk

FWIW - Packers QB Coach / Passing Game Coordinator is getting an NFL Head Coaching interview.

for those of you that think an NFL QB Coach and Passing Game coordinator without any experience calling plays is beneath a University offensive coordinator position.
I get what you're saying, but the opposition will point out that Hackett has been an OC with play calling duties before going to GB.

Ain’t got anything to do with “beneath”. Mike Vrabel was a terrible DC in Houston but is a good HC for the Titans. Being a play caller and HC are totally different. Can anyone here say what Dorsey’s favorite personnel groupings are? Will his offense be RPO heavy? Does he like the outside zone? No one here can really answer those questions and this is why some people want someone who has actually done it before. Proof of concept.

We have no idea what he or even Mario wants to run. People just throw out “spread” like that’s supposed to mean something. Patrick Nix ran a variation of the spread. You’d think we’d all be done just blindly putting faith in coaches.

It’s also not really the argument some of us have against it.

I’d be worried about hiring an established OC that never called plays in college.

Successful offenses year in and year out are about small playbooks, and certain concepts within those limited plays. It’s simply not true if you can run a successful offense in the NFL, then you can for sure run a successful one in college.

People keep wanting to point out how desired Dorsey is by the NFL as evidence that we would be lucky to have him. And really, the OCs I would most want are the ones who run an offense the NFL would have no interest in.
