A point I haven't really seen made yet (maybe I missed it).
Cristobal is his own animal - a drive, intensity, focus....combined with a sacrifice....that is very unique. Some folks are smart workers, some are hard workers - and neither of those types, alone, are a fit for a guy like this. If anyone here has ever worked for a dude who literally makes work the most important thing in their life - above time with kids, family, relatives, relaxation....it's not for everyone.
To work for Cristobal, you are the top tier percentage of people who have that motor and that drive and willingness to sacrifice everything else in their lives to their job. It's easy for us to applaud dudes who arrive at 5am and leave at 10pm. Behind those dudes, are families, friends, loved ones who literally never get to see that person or have meaningful experiences with them most of the time.
I've worked for dudes like that. I can honestly say I'd never do it again. If that's not YOU - if you're not Cristobal Jr. - you'll never survive that job.
I suspect this is a bigger factor in his OC/DC hiring issues than we're giving it credit for. Seeing T-Rob with his eyes closed in the middle of the night might have been funny - but I thought to myself that dude wasn't at that level. Honestly, almost no one is.
His right hand men - those candidates have to have that same motor - because smart or just plain hard working isn't enough. Not even close. They have to be successful and a rockstar, and subordinate everything in their lives to coaching. They have to be in the right spot in their career for that role.
Honestly, how many actually fit that criteria?
