I am not trying to take it anywhere. I was genuinely curious since I have not spent alot of time in this thread and don't plan on reading 1000 pages. From what I read, our insiders say he wasn't offered and Arkansas insiders have said he was offered. You seemed very confident that our insiders were correct. So I figured you had heard another piece of info that I did not hear.

Let's put this into different terms.

Kendal Briles did not have a commitable offer. He just didn't. He might be telling Arkansas he did, but the "Arkansas insiders" have motivation to believe it because (a) it gave Briles a raise, and (b) it builds a comfortable thumb-sucking myth that Briles really really really wanted to stay at Arkansas all along. Which is complete and utter bulllcrap, Kendal Briles is a mercenary.

Credit to Jimmy Sexton, he knows the SEC-SEC-SEC and he knows what whispered sweet nothings that SEC fans love to hear.

From what I have read. Their insiders have been saying Briles was offered and ours are saying he wasn't offered. So it pretty much just comes down to which side you want to believe? Right?
I don’t get why it matters as either scenario should worry me if I was an Arkansas fan.

Let’s assume he was offered and he rejected. That means he was interested in leaving and actually interviewed. No one interviews especially Mario’s process if they arent seriously interested.

So at best he believed Miami is a better OC job than Arkansas and he was interested in leaving so if he does well next year do they think he will stay?

We knew we were on borrowed time with Lashlee but the difference was the job is attractive so we should be able to get a qualified replacement. And Lashlee likely wouldn’t have left for another OC job unless maybe for Bama.

Arkansas fans know deep down inside if he leaves they may not get an equal replacement considering the conference and the division they play in and the lack of talent to compete.

It's legit. All the insiders who are right on everything said he wasn't offered but was definitely interviewed. The timelines are what really don't make sense with him getting offered though. Mario offered Candle for sure and everyone says that's legit. That happened i think Tuesday, then Candle rejected it the next day. However, once Candle's offer went public, Briles' offer magically went public shory after, then 1.5.hours later Briles' allegedly declined the offer...a day before Candle did.

Mario's cryptonite is dishonor or whatever so i HIGHLY doubt he offered two coaches at once. Obviously, anything is possible but i think it's very very unlikely Briles was offered.

I fully understand why Briles would make up the lie. I was just wondering if the only proof we had, that this was actually the case, was what our insiders were say.

I didn't even realize we had insiders that were correct on here. I need to spend more time in this thread.

But you were citing "Arkansas insiders" as if there was somehow some unbreakable tie-game between "UM insiders" on one side and "Arkansas insiders" on the other side.

I'm not going to belabor this, it isn't just "CIS insiders". Mario can't just bind UM to multi-year multi-million dollar employment contracts over a phone call and with magic words. "Gauging a person's interest" is not the same as making a firm job offer. Without going into massive detail, Briles turned around and parlayed his interview into a big pay raise from Arkansas (which is fine if he wants to do that privately) and a bogus public "we love you Arkansas" publicity stunt (which is a sad joke orchestrated by his agent).

And nothing that anyone says will convince you that the "Arkansas insiders" are full of crap, so I give up. Believe what you want to believe.

Briles got a mailer that we were interested, and came over for an official visit. He met with the coaches. When they decided not to give him a committable offer, he had his handler leak that UM wanted him. He even bought a UM hat so he could put it on the table. Come signing day, he got a bigger bag out of the school he was always going to, Arkansas.

Cue Gator fans chanting S-E-C, S-E-C, S-E-C in the background.

If I'm a University of Northeast Texas at Fayetteville Fan, I'm irritated that my team is about to pay a ****load of money to keep a dude who didn't have a committable offer, for one more year. He's leaving after '22.

Great coach, one of the 10 best in the nation.
Don't necessarily disagree but like Kirk Ferentz he's gonna retire having just had a "real nice" career. They're both (more past tense I'm Ferentz's case) either too comfortable where they are or too afraid to go to place with higher standards to ever actually achieve greatness.

Don't get me wrong, being king of a college town for your adult life is a sweet gig and there's absolutely something to be said for loyalty but Okie State and Iowa ain't actually ever winning anything in our or their lifetimes.

I never said there was an unbreakable tie game, but its fine since you answered my question. It is all just speculation from both sides. Thanks.
