If you guys want a new stadium (which Mr. James wants to), pls email him and Jesse Marks and offer to donate money for it. With the new MLS stadium, this is our opportunity.

Note for those who have emailed in the past re: Golden or NoDforU, they usually only respond to season ticket holders or donors since they are aware of trolls as we are.

They do read all if the emails.

Go canes!

That soccer stadium is only gonna hold 25,000 seats. More than enough for Virginia and Duke but a problem when a team worth a **** visits.

Once again, MLS wants a soccer specific stadium. They will not allow them to share the stadium with another sport. Even then it's going to fit around 20k with a chance of expanding to maybe 30k years down the road. I'm talking many many years down the road.

It will not happen. Sorry to burst your bubble.

A 20k capacity soccer stadium is likely to attract more fans than that spaceship beisbol stadium at the former OB site. Depending on ticket prices, of course. This is viable in the Miami-Dade demographic.

Rent SLS for one day. Everyone else does it.

Yes ... we are going to break our lease at SLS and they are going to welcome us back with open arms to rent it for a few games per year. :nelsonhaha:

I predict the MLS team becomes more successful than the Marlins and Panthers. Expectations will be properly set . They're not expecting it to rival the Dolphins or Heat for Miami sport dominance but they know they can carve out a strong loyal market and when Beckham gets some aging superstars to come play there will be lots of buzz.

But still, there is no shot here for us. We will not be playing in their stadium.

Holy Moley!

He also told the newspaper that he is open to the possibility that the University of Miami Hurricanes football team, who have had trouble filling the Miami Dolphins’ Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, could someday play at an MLS stadium.

“That’s definitely one of the options,” he said. “We want this to be a stadium that Miami, the city of Miami, can be proud of. And I think we can achieve that solely with soccer, but if there’s other things like you say, you know, there’s always options.”

If they build a stadium of at least 40k then, IMO, the Canes will end up there eventually. Interesting part is Beckham has stated the stadium will be privately funded. That would lead me to believe that it will have to be big enough for football, it only makes sense, it's another revenue stream. At the end of the day they're going to need to put butts in the seats outside of the MLS games.

That soccer stadium will be the biggest bust in history, BTW. They should build at 2,000 seat stadium, tis all they will need.

Not saying it will happen, but I love it when people make emphatic bold statement as if they are the ultimate authority.

Is it a bold statement? Maybe and having no shot might be a bit drastic but it's pretty **** close. It's not like I'm coming out of left field either.

I worked for the Philadelphia Union (mls team) so I know the hard line stance the MLS takes when it comes to stadiums. It's well documented they do not want to share stadiums unless it's a temporary holdover (Philly played at the Linc for their first few games until our stadium was ready).

Bold statements are made here everyday, by no means do I think of myself as having any authority whatsoever. Just a personal opinion.

So, county owned land at the Port of Miami is part of the conversation but county owned Tropical Park is completely out of the question for us, amirght?

I seems some of you spend countless hours at your computers thinking of ways NOT to get sh*t done.

The last time I had break a lease for the apartment complex where I was living, I simply gave them enough notice and a little extra cash. Because I was a good tenant while there, they would have no problem taking me back. That's just one small example of business people figuring out to accomplish something with both sides seeming some but maybe not all the benefit they want.

If it were up to some of you, we would still be riding in horse and buggy.

Sorry, you are talking out of your ***. As someone else posted, Beckham has stated that he is open to working with UM. They also want it big enough for major concerts. As you state, the MLS policy is that the stadium be soccer-specific, not soccer-only. So, it must be designed for soccer, but can also be designed for other things. Case in point-- the Seattle stadium that was designed for the Sounders and the Seahwaks. And oh, by the way, the Sounders have the highest attendance in the MLS with a great atmosphere at their games, and the Seahawks have the best home field advantage in the NFL. It is way easier to make a dual-purpose for soccer and football than baseball and football. The dimensions are pretty close for soccer. Baseball is different-- that's why Sun Life's set up sucks so much for football.

There are definitely talks going on between UM and Beckham. Blake James and Shalala were at the MLS announcement party. Both Beckham and Blake James have stated they are open to working with each other for a stadium. Someone posted the link for the Beckham story. Here is the link for where Blake James said it:

Finally, I would just say that I seriously doubt Beckham is going to be able to get prime real estate for a venue that only has MLS games. They need UM in on this.

In recent years, the MLS has gone into the direction of small and more intimate stadiums. It has been working for them. They will not build anything larger than 25k capacity. Miami needs to STOP playing at other team's venues.

Solid attempt however Seattle is a terrible example. Look at the rest of the MLS attendance figures and you'll see there are a handful of teams that average over 20k a game and even then it's right around 20k, not 30k. Therefore every new stadium hovers around 20k-30k in capacity. I predict Miami will be on the bigger side but not big enough to host our games.

Also, Century Link field is a terrible example. It was designed with the NFL in mind. Why do you think the US team has only played there once? You don't think they'd want to play in front of those fans every **** game? It's because of the turf they installed. It's not suitable for soccer. FIFA does not like hosting games on anything but natural grass.

Im all for it though man. I ******* hate SLS. I live in Arizona and it pains me to watch our games in that ****hole of a stadium. I just don't want fans to get hopeful only to be disappointed.
