So we got our class

Let's say we finished beating FIU and Duke and/or we spent more time following up with local/Floridian back up plans. Given we had a lot of good guys but with some holes remaining, what would you have thought about this class:

QB-Van Dyke
RB-Chaney, Knighton
WR-Redding, Worsham, Restrepo, and Poitier or Lacy
TE-Mammarelli
OL-Rivers, Washington, Michael Rankins (signed with GT)
DE-Williams guys
DT-Roberts, Moise
Lb-Flagg, Austin-Cave, Hyppolite or Tennison
cb-Clarke, Delancey, and Jamal Potts
S-Balom
S/Striker-Harrell
S/Striker-Washington

Would those extra additions to fill holes based on doing more infrastructural work locally and across the state of Florida for back-up plans been worth the effort?

Would those additions be too filler like to fill the holes? Or solid depth/additions to round out a top 15 class?

In my opinion one more quality wr, OL, lb, and 2 more cb (ones I listed which weren't big bag guys) would be more than enough to supplement a very good class.

Need 3 more OL and 1 more CB and LB. Washington would be nice if he wants to come, but Mammareli will be big time. Just may need a Redshirt year to learn more about the passing game.

I honestly feel that even if we won those last 2 games, we still would have lost those other players at the end.

So we still would have ended up with the current commits.

Just my opinion.

Whether those losses actually affected the decisions of guys like Flowe, Francois, Greene, Height, and Baynes is something we can never really know. But, what we do know is losing those last two games was unacceptable and could potentially have provided recruits the excuse they needed to bolt. Let's eliminate the excuse and be certain.

And on a related note, no staff should be able to limp to the finish with losses to FIU and Duke, then turn around and say, "yeah, we underestimated how much those two losses would hurt us in recruiting." Corches can't use losing as an excuse for sub-par recruiting when they personally oversaw the losing. And fans shouldn't tolerate it.

I am discussing lesser recruited guys and would the additions of:

-Poitier or Lacy
-Rankins
-Hyppolite or even someone else
-Delancey and Potts

have actually made a large difference in people's eyes for filling holes or would guys like this have just been considered filler. We got a lot of good players but there are complaints about not filling holes. Would those simple additions above have been enough for a really solid all around class?

I'm not obviously talking about Flowe, Darnell Washington, etc.

After the florida loss, if we had went undefeated from that point I think our class would have been ranked anywhere from 3-8 range. We barley made a bowl and still have a legit top 15 class

We often complaint about the "South Florida Diva," but our coaching staff sits in the middle of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. Look at our 247 composite class rankings over the past 15 years. Even when we are horrible, we still usually manage a top 20 class. When we are good or have momentum or South Florida has an especially great year, we have typically landed in the top 12. It's not that hard. That's why this "well, we are still in the top 20 despite our record" talk always upsets me. Top 20 should be the minimum at UM, and I expect more than the minimum.

If we managed to keep Height, and added Poiter, Martinez, Denis, Hyppolite, and Delancey to our class (all readily attainable guys if our staff was doing their job), I would be much, much happier about the class. As it stands, we have holes and depth concerns at OL, CB, LB, and, to a lesser extent, WR, making this an incomplete class.

I would be/have been ecstatic to land Edgerrin Cooper at OLB and Delancy. Don’t know who it would take to get me excited about the O Line.

uninviting the LB jesus, just because they felt good about Greene was stupidity and a rookie move..... lets say Greene flipped to us and we took jesus also.. how is that a bad thing with amount of open spots we have left???? you're doubling down on at least one of the two being a starting stud, and one being a needed special teams guy, or at best both are quality contributors. an experienced UM recruiter would of doubled down on OL, LB and a CB/S. Worst/best case is we get the higher 3 kids we were after and get 3 planB kids... we had 6 spots...

Agreed completely. Or how is it a bad thing to have both on signing day (regardless of Greene dropping us)?

But we didn't.

It isn't, but this goofy *** staff continues to try and peddle this loyalty schtick to big recruits in an effort to land them, when in reality it appeals only to a few good kids like Chaney or Lingard.
