Fisch says James was held back by a turf toe more than anyone realized last season.

"He's fast - he was playing with more of a toe injury than we knew about maybe last year," Fisch said. "There's a huge jump in his explosiveness, his ability to stick and go."

"And the second part of it is I didn't realize how much faster Michael James is going to play. He's playing at a really, really high level right now.

FAP worthy? or is he pulling my *******

Turf toe has been known to end careers, so I think we gotta give James the benefit of the doubt.

"Certainly Malcolm Lewis will have a major role for us - he's in an orange shirt running with the ones"

duh... kids a baller and has been going up against Tracy Howard every day for the last 4or5 years

A starting tailback has yet to be named.

"They're battling it out, and we haven't made a decision on that," Fisch said. "What we think we'll wind up doing is packaging our running backs - certain guys get certain plays. We'll be running back by committee. Who takes the first snap of the game will be determined by what the first play of the game is. And we haven't made that official decision, but really all these guys have great assets and great traits. We're going to use all of them. They have strengths and weaknesses, and like last year you'd have different guys in for different plays. It'll be similar to that."

It's going have to be by commitee imo. I don't think we have an every down back this season so of course we're going have to be smart on how we use each RB.

Fisch says he's learned something new about Johnson.

"I think that Duke can run a lot more downhill than I maybe originally thought," Fisch said. "Duke's physical. Duke is not just one of those speed guys on the perimeter. And I think that's made a huge difference - Duke can play any down, every down. Not saying he will play every down, but Duke can do whatever you want him to do. Now we'll just choose which ones we want him to do.

"He's only 5-9, but he's 190 pounds, which makes him more durable than you would have thought. And he's electric in terms of his speed."

Fisch adds that "He catches the ball very, very well. Duke is a threat in the passing game and in the running game. He's going to have to be able to make plays for us on the perimeter catching the football as well as downfield catching the football."

I dont know about this guy Fish..

James is the closest thing to an every down back we have. he has a well rounded game but has always battled injuries and doesnt have as much strength as it looks like he should.
