Here are my guys for LB'er and it follows my theory of sign when abundant....No particular order just a list.

1. Wilder- Old school Canes speed and toughness. Reminds me of hunting dogs when they spot a hog running, they just go get'um and do nasty things.

2. Ventrelle Miller- Inside-Out, tackle to 8 hole defender. Excellent to take on read option tackle release run plays and can get wide up the field to stop jet sweeps.

3. Brandon James- More I learn about him more I'm convinced we can't let him leave 305! Tall, "fast", rangy kid that is capable of playing Safety, but is unique in that he has frame to be a big LB'er. I this new era of of spread set teams he would be tough to get a pass over him and he has the speed to run with WR's. In fact as much as I like Miller, I'd be inclined to take him first because of his versatility, speed and huge potential.

4. NaDarius F'agan- Man some guys are just football players and F'agan one of those can't miss types. Plus like James, he is the "perfect" new era type undersized fast LB'er that can cover those speedy spread set WR/Slot guys. The game has changed and those that recognize the type of LB'er needed today is not the 235-250 lb run stuffers of the past. F'agan will be a 6'1" 220/25 behind the line/good pass coverage player.

You know I keep hearing about these guys but nobody talks about OOS OLB Willie *** and MLB Jordan Phillips. Coach Diaz was recruiting them heavily at Miss State and he offered again when he got here. Jacob Phillips older brother is actually best friends with Corn Elder. Wilder is first on my list but Willie *** is number 2 and Jacob is number 3. Obviously this doesn't show their interest but Jacob seems to have a lot

Here's an old qoute from Jacob Phillips on UM:

We had a prior conversation a couple months ago right after he got the job at Miami," Phillips said. "He had just offered me like a month earlier at Mississippi State and I wanted to see if he still was interested. He said he obviously felt the same way but something told me to reach out this week. I called, found out about the offer, and they asked if I was serious. I definitely am."

Phillips does have some connections to Coral Gables but there are numerous factors that have him considering a college career in Coral Gables.

"They're trying to turn it around and they think the best way to do it is recruiting local guys," Phillips said. "They have one linebacker committed and they only want two. I love Miami and everything about them, I even wear their gloves that my coach gave me. Corn Elder is one of my brother's best friends and it's a great school. They have a nice little environment going where you can be social and make lots of connections. The team plays in a big stadium and the weather is beautiful in Florida."

Here's both their highlights

JR- Season - Jacob Phillips highlights - Hudl
Jacob Phillips: 122 total tackles, 5 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 1 int

Junior year 2015 - Willie *** highlights - Hudl
Willie ***: 84 tackles, 17 TFL, 6 sacks, 4 ints, 9 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles

I am a big fan of the sign when abundant theory. This year is LBs and next year is DBs. Stock up as many as possible. **** **** happens..injuries (DOwens), busts (Figatron), dismissals (GTerry and EJohnson), Transfers (ACrawford), **** even career ending injuries (MGayot and JWitt).

I would never rest on my laurels. You cant trust these kids that much or their bodies.

No one is forgetting about players like that, we are just waiting until they show more interest in us. We appreciate all the out of state guys you're bringing up, it's just it's too early to tell who's got a definitive interest in us at this point. Players have been talking about us and putting us in their top lists for years. Once the season gets going we'll know who really is about this U.

Well I don't think you can get anymore interested than Jacob Phillips...btw I know top guys have been bringing us up for years. I know some of the guys who brought us up but had no intention of coming here...at all

No doubt. Just how it is. But pretty soon I feel it'll be a different story. If we win, they all coming lol.

Steed is a must IMO. Great fundamentals, moves well in the box...bring in him, Wilder and Miller. That's a class of LB's. On top of last years class and we got no depth concerns going forward.

Go Canes!

Would to take 4 but this is definitely DB year not LB year. DB depth is a major issue.

I got nothing against Steed in "any" way and I like that he a remained committed all this time. There just isn't any film on the kid. Is he fast? Can he cover? Get off blocks? String a play out? In looking at our roster after next year we'll have 17 LB'ers. How many on scholie, I don't know. After Grace departs there are only 8 that are scholarship worthy. This position can use at least 3 at minimum to build quality depth while you gracefully help others find somewhere else to play.

Well you guys know by now that whenever there is a good LB thread I will chime in. To answer the questions asked in this post, Steed I believe had the fastest forty out of the top three LB's (Wilder, Miller, Steed) that Manny is recruiting. I think Brandon James is the only one that had a better time with his 4.57 at 194 lbs (Steed weighed in at 221 lbs). Steed also had the best 20 yard shuttle out of all UM LB recruits with 4.33, I believe James had the second best with a 4.66. As far as can he cover, you are free to ask his coaches at SFE (South Florida Express) or you can check out the links below from a camp he went to at Texas A&M his freshman year.

As far as can he get off blocks, he showed that ability in his sophomore highlights and he also goes against one of the best O-Lines in Dade and Broward county everyday in practice. I can only say to you that every University that has come to Central in the past two weeks and watched him in 11 on 11, have offered him a scholarship or have been reaching out. You just have to make it out to Central one day next week or for the spring game to see what the buzz is all about. He has hit the ground running and he is fully recovered from his shoulder injury. You also asked can he string a play out, I assume you are questioning his sideline to sideline ability. If so there is a lot of those plays in his film also. The kid is instinctive and has very very quick feet. I know you probably don't want to take my word for it but like I said just ask some folk who have seen him in action and they can tell you just as well as I can. His coach also coached Lavonte David and Sean Spence, and he has told me that Steed is that caliber kid and he expects him to play like that every play.

Why is this future All-Everything not signed up?

This is great to hear. Love Steed's game. I repeat, he's a must get.
