Next year is shaping up to be very different for most major big-time programs

Rather than heavy experience at the QB positions, most teams are handing the keys over to youth and potential (like we hope to do with nickel next year)

Ohio State - Howard to Julian Sayin
Oregon - Gabriel to Dante Moore
Notre Dame - leonard to Steve Angeli
Michigan - crap shoot to Bryce Underwood
Alabama - Milroe to Keelon Russell
UGA - Beck to Gunner Stockton
Texas - Ewers to Arch Manning

we'll be in that boat next year with Nickel, but will be interesting to see how many of these programs hit or missed on their evaluations and how many games are lost due to that.

While many of these QB's certainly can end up great over time, it does feel great knowing we have Beck this year ... if Hetherman is what we hope he can be, might be a special year

Or Austin Mack
I guess point remains that it’s still an unproven option. Very few big time name brand teams rolling with a lot of experience there

Oklahoma, LSU, us, Indiana and SMU if you want to count them

It's a great point and with Heatherman and a (hopefully) reborn Beck with a chip on his shoulders and a future NFL career in his eyes, we really have everything we want in front of us.

There's no doubt in my mind that if Heatherman had come on board the prior year, we would had a good chance making it to the semifinals and if we had drawn ND/PSU, might even be in the championship game.

Not saying any of that is a given this year, but to your point, if Beck is healthy, we really don't have a cap on how high this team can go in 2025.

Ohio ST is still going to be pursuing a QB in the Spring Portal

Michigan brought in Mikey Keene from Fresno ST. They may start Underwood, but they have a proven insurance policy if he's not ready.

I don't believe for a second that Oregon is going to hand it over Dante Moore. They will likely bring in Ewers when he hits the Portal, or will tamper with somebody & overpay for a Spring Portal QB. But they're not trusting their season on D Moore.

It's Championship or bust for Oregon.

half those qbs listed have significant experience.
i think we have different understandings of the word "significant"

this year, rental qb's, 3rd or 4th (or 5th) year qbs are prevalent

next year for the major programs it's either first-time full starter experience or someone with a few games under their belt - there's clearly a difference there and I was noting that we seem to be either 1 year behind (with nickel next year) or positioned in a good spot with someone like beck this year

just noting that most major programs are getting out of the rental business and trying to find a long term solution (like we hope to be doing with nickel) - we'll see if we play it smart or if any of those big-time teams regress due to bad evals

The ‘25 class of QBs (enrolling now) is the best class I’ve ever seen.

That will supply some teams with QBs of the future and also create a lot of movement over the next two years.

And, do you think we might've nabbed the best one in Luke?

Think UGA might blink after Spring practice too.

If Ewers goes to the draft 2-3 Big 12 QBs are going to make a lot of money in Spring portal.

Arch will be going into year 3 in Sark’s system and has quite a bit of real game experience so I would use the terms “inexperienced” and “youth” loosely with him, but point taken.
