How does the 2014 senior class stack up with those of the last 5-10 years?

Perryman - starting MLB
Chickillo - starting DE
Dorsett - starting WR
Feliciano - starting LG
Walford - starting TE
Gunter - starting CB
Pierre - starting DT
McDermott - starting C
Armbrister - possible starting OLB
Heaps - probable starting QB
Scott - in the mix at WR
Sandland - in the mix at TE
Fentress - good special teamer
Williams - will probably play some

Walk-ons:

Harvey: backup OL/special teamer
Regula: backup FB/special teamer
Johnson: backup RB
Delapinga: backup DB
Carroll: backup P
Tolson: backup DB
Akpejiori: backup TE

Pretty good considering most are avg to good players and not just starting because they have the coaches trust and more experience then the younger ones.

No reason we can't make the ACC Championship this year. Anything less hurts pretty bad.

Not a bad senior class. Throw in all the serious talent in the junior class and this year should be a very, very good year. It is all on the coaches now. Plenty of young guns from the last two years to sprinkle into the the mix. If I did not have a tremendous amount of doubt about staff's actually coaching ability, I would be completely over the top about this season. If Al could just treat each game with the hate and anger he had against the swamp scum, we will put fear back in college football this year. He needs to reach deep and channel his inner JJ and send the Canes out to crush and destroy not just play good.

Not bad for Golden's first Class...the one he had to piece together a few months before signing day

Compared to the previous 6 years, at or near the top. But honestly, it's not very strong. Of that group, only Perryman has a shot at 1st round, and probably won't go until low 2nd due to his physical limitations. We'll be lucky to get a few more lower-round draft choices out of this class. Compared to the JJ through Butch years, far, far below Miami standards. This year's juniors have a chance to break that pattern and start getting us back to where we should be in terms of depth of talent graduating. Then we need to replace them.

See, I don't recall the teams from the glory years ever having an amazing senior class. Look at 2000 for instance:

7 Al Blades DB 6-2 205 Sr. Plantation, FL (Plantation)
24 Delvin Brown FS 6-0 210 Sr. Miami, FL (Carol City HS)
90 Quincy Hipps DE 6-4 265 Sr. Tampa, FL (Tampa Catholic)
21 James Jackson RB 5-11 215 Sr. Belle Glade, FL (Fork Union Military) (Glades Central)
84 Andre King WR 6-0 200 Sr. Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Stranahan )
79 Greg Laffere OL 6-5 305 Sr. Bayehor, KS (Butler C.C.) (Bayehore-Linwood HS)
92 Damione Lewis DT 6-3 295 Sr. Sulphur Springs, TX (Sulphur Springs HS)
35 Will McPartland FB 6-0 230 Sr. Scranton, PA (Scranton Prep)
86 Ivan Mercer TE 6-7 245 Sr. Antelope, CA (Orange Coast J.C.) (Oakmont)
44 Dan Morgan LB 6-3 230 Sr. Coral Springs, FL (Taravella)
26 Aaron Moser DB 6-0 190 Sr. Bonne Terre, MO (North County)
6 Santana Moss WR 5-10 180 Sr. Miami, FL (Carol City)
22 Leonard Myers CB 6-0 200 Sr. Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Dillard)
50 Jevon Rhodes DL 6-2 250 Sr. LaPorte, TX (LaPorte HS)
85 Michael Stewart WR 5-11 185 Sr. Cranston, RI (LaSalle Academy)
95 Brian Stinson DE 6-3 270 Sr. DeLand, FL (DeLand HS)
87 Reggie Wayne WR 6-1 195 Sr. Marrero, LA (Marrero HS)
96 Adrian Wilson DT 6-2 315 Sr. Jacksonville, AR (Jacksonville HS)

Wayne, Moss, Morgan, Lewis were the only guys who were big, big difference makers. Jackson, Myers, Blades, King, Hipps, Mercer, Laffere were good but they weren't irreplaceable.

My point is that it was usually a bunch of juniors that left school early. We might have that again this year to an extent with Duke, Flowers, Howard.

I just don't see the acccg for this group, the only playmakers I see on that list is Perryman and Gunter, we need more stars. AND I'M NOT BEING A HATER, just pointing out some things.

Yeah, but Rock, all those classes you listed had more talent than our senior class. We're closing the gap, to be sure. And I'm not suggesting the weak senior class is an excuse, as the freshmen, sophomore and junior class all have some decent athletes now, and there's better symmetry. Just saying this year's seniors are not meeting Miami standards.

I agree grover. It's not a good enough senior class to win a national championship.

Good work, rok.

An athletic and productive senior class will be a nice change.

We have more pieces this year than we've had in a long time. No telling what we do with them, but MOAR TALENT.

Not much star power in this senior class as compared to those other classes. It's a solid class, but not exceptional.
