**Freshman LB Alex Figueroa was arguably the most impressive performer on the day. He has everything you look for from a physical standpoint and he seems to have a very good understanding of the game, which is evidenced by the fact that he's already running with the first unit. He can really turn and cover while also mixing it up in the run game. He had a huge hit on Duke in goal-line work.

**Jake O'Donnell stood out to me. The RS FR came into Miami as a DE, but made the switch to TE and looked very smooth running today. He made a couple short catches and had a nice run after the catch on one of them. He is a wildcard in the tight end race and I could see him getting some quality burn this season

**Herb Waters was targeted a lot today and he showed good burst with the ball in his hands today. The major knock on him out of high school was his lack of elite speed, but his speed is very deceptive and continues to improve. Made a few nice plays on short pass plays and was also overthrown twice...one would have been a TD.

**Tyriq McCord is making the transition to a full-time OLB as opposed to the DE spot he played last season. He definitely looked bulked up which is an encouraging sign.

**Jelani Hamilton had some nice QB pressures and forced a throw away on the goal line. Dwayne Hoilett was matched up with Sonny Odogwu at RT and the two had a good battle. Hoilett beat him a couple times, and Odogwu showed flashes of his potential as well.

**Overall, the offense looked sloppy which isn't necessarily a surprise. The QBs overthrew some open receivers and the tight ends dropped a few passes. Beau Sandland couldn't come up with a pass that was a little high over the middle, but also caught a TD on a tipped ball in goal line work. Dobard also dropped one, but it was a tough play to make.

Some quick notes
**Antonio Crawford made a nice interception near the sideline

**Chickillo intercepted a tipped ball at the line. Morris was the QB.

**Danny Dillard scored on the goal line. He broke the run out the left from about the 3-yard line.

Wow McCord to LB is surprising, considering the lack of depth across the entire DL

I'm pretty sure that Golden had said earlier that McCord will be playing both DE and OLB depending on the formation. It's not so much as switch as an expansion of his duties as our defense evolves.

I think the fact that we have 3 DT in blackshirts, is and indication of the formation that we will be running this year. Mccord, Figs, Bond and Muhammed, will all be playing some sort of hybrid role i think.

/murdering QBs.

Most of the sets where McCord lined up at linebacker was when he was out there with the 2's. When he was with the 1's he was being used almost exclusively at D end. He held up pretty good at the point of attack and looks bigger.
