I heard Al Golden state in the past that he has held back Scholarships and Bowl games due to the investigation. When I went to Miami's official website I noticed that (76) players were on Scholarship for 2011/2012 (80) for 2012/2013 and as of today (75) for this year pending the arrival of AQM, Gilbert, Bond, Kamalu, & Derosier which would make (80). My question I was just wandering has he self imposed for the last three seasons already.

Yes and according to Josh Newberg on 247 we have also self imposed time on the road recruiting for coaches and the number of official visits we have allowed. That is why the ACC comm. is not expecting anything more.

This is what I've always wondered since I heard golden say that he self imposed scholarship reductions, visits and trips So, that would mean they would count, correct?

those roster counts aren't accurate wrt how many players actually counted against the 85. for instance, a josh witt would have counted against the 85/25 for the year, even if taken off the roster. would be difficult to get the actual number.

There is no way Miami didnt make a huge point of this in front of the NCAA COI and they **** well better count otherwise that would be some bull.

Josh witt is on a medical hardship because of concussions, so he does not count against the 85 scholarship roster spots, but his tuition is paid from the athletic budget.

Jesus tap dancing Christ, some of you people learn how to title a thread!

You misunderstand. at the time of his original enrollment, he would have already counted against the 25/85

Going forward(currently) he no longer counts, that is correct. there are most likely other similiar situations where if you look at a past roster, now, a guy may not be listed, but he wouldve counted against the 25/85 at that time, when it mattered.

As soon as Witt was ruled athletically ineligible his scholarship was transferred as a hardship. If he had started Fall practice for the season them we might be having a different discussion but he was ruled in the prior Spring as an EE which had counted against the previous years roster.

josh witt was an example, and obviously a poor one because its distracted everyone from the actual argument.

The argument isnt over josh witt and when he did or did not count. He DID count(regardless of which class he counted towards), and he will not be listed on the roster.

Now the MAIN point is that there are going to be several similiar situations to a josh witt, where a player may not appear on a roster but did count according to NCAA rules(which i will post when i get to my computer)

I know you guys love to discuss this stuff but it is such a grey area. We're not experts, we don't really know and that is under normal circumstances (i.e. no NCAA BS).

As for numbers:

Derosier signed a financial aid agreement, is that an athletic scholarship?

Gilbert has not enrolled, will he be on scholarship even or will he be taken a few token classes on his own dime since he has eligibility but graduated from Wisconsin (is graduating from Wisconsin).

We will see, hopefully soon, what happened in the past (if anything) and what happens in the future in regards to the NCAA.

The papers Derosier signed are the same ones any scholarship player signs. And Gilbert won't be doing anything on his own dime at UM.

That is fine, the same thing above applies.

Either way I'm sure the Don has been proactive in preparing for this. Problem is there really is no telling how much to prepare with how shady the NCAA is
