Scholarship reduction question???

Ok so right now we are at 76 scholarship players, 9 short of the allowed 85. So my question is let's say the NCAA gives us a scholarship reduction penalty of 9 ships over 3 years. Could we just take all 9 this year and play with what we got and be done with everything after this year and just pray to god no get hurt this year. So what say everyone or am I totally off on how the scholarship reduction penalty works???

not because the limits would be yearly and overall. Lets say ti is 3 per year the NCAA would limit us to 22 signees per season. UM would have needed to communicate before this school year and signing day and declare what punishment we are taking now. We can't backdoor it. As far as we know that has not happened.
 
Well, technically I think they can just communicate it to the NCAA. Don't think they need to announce it publicly......
 
I say we sue the NCAA. By the time this is done it will be over a 5 year penalty. It will end up being worse than what USC got and we fully cooperated and our situation wasn't as serious.
 
I find it hard to believe they have not advised the NCAA of self imposed scholarship reductions. We have been playing below 85 for a few years now. Yes, part of this is to create some room to both sign kids and account for reductions that are upcoming but I'd be shocked if nothing at all was self imposed on the scholie side via private letters.

2 things.

UM has likely recently communicated what we are willing to self impose. Last season UM would have had 84 on roster had some made it in and others not get kicked off or leave the program. Unless this past NSD is the first year of self imposing. We did not self impose anything the previous years as the numbers don't support that.

I think if UM self imposed it would have leaked. All the coaches would have to know and well it hasn't leaked so I doubt it happened. Al Golden hinted at reduced visits but he never came out and said we self imposed reduced visits.

Right now its like Pawn Stars. We likely have offered something up and they are going to decide whether to take it or not.
 
On July 29th 2012 UM's website listed the following players. I removed the ones that were walk-ons. Feel free to double check my work. There is 86 total players. I know some of these guys like josh witt and david thompson never suited up but we did intend for them too so this is proof we did not self impose at least last season.

Yeah I dont think Al Golden self imposed any scholarship sanctions either....

I think his original plan was to stack up as fast as he can on as many players a possible before the NCAA came down w/ the sanctions, but all the kids that have been kicked off the team or left that wouldve been grown men by now really set that plan back.

I believe we have taken at least some of the scholarship reductions. Also per articles in the Miami Herald, we have definitely taken reduced recruiting visits. UM has already self imposed more punishment than any other team in the history of the NCAA. I think that should go a long way to saying to the NCAA, that enough is enough. (Time Served).

UM has already self imposed more punishment than any other team in the history of the NCAA. I think that should go a long way to saying to the NCAA, that enough is enough. (Time Served).

I posted what we had at the end of July for 2012 and it is 86, you can count them yourself if you like. Just because some of them never played doesnt mean we didnt have the intent of them playing. (Josh Witt, David Thompson). This list is from UM's website so it is accurate.
