Several schools did a good job of telling recruits this year was all cam and look at what we are losing. When that doubt creeps in you have to up the bag and we chose not to as far as kids I know anyway. As long as we shop well in the portal I'm cool with it personally. And of course I'd prefer a different DC

ding ding ding. we have a winner. This year has made me realize OL, DT, WR are the only recruits that actually matter in HS recruiting. Other position can be subsidized with good portal addition.

I'm not going to faint over losing a safety here and there because we went 10-2 with the worse defense I've ever seen at Miami simply because we had a good QB and OL play. I prioritize hiring a good DC.

The thinking for me is if the defense was just average this year we'd be a top 3 team and you don't need to have 5 star players everywhere to achieve that.

Recency bias, and the narrative is we're all Cam. Cam is gone next year so no forward momentum for Miami. That's what's being sold to these kids.
