Per the Reinshaw show on WQAM:

Golden told the media today that Stacy Coley and Malcolm Lewis need to make sure they are ready to play next week. It's their time to step up and play well.

Golden also said Ufomba Kamalu, Jelani Hamilton and Earl Moore have responded to the challenge this week and are really coming along. If they can keep improving they will get PT against Sav. St.

Earl Moore.....Its about time.

That's all folks.

Moore is still a year away. He will be a big contributor next year, and even then I would not label him a difference maker, but that's okay, he should be solid. Kamalu and Jelani need to develop and we need one more Juco DT. Next year our defense is gonna be stacked, the only thing holding us back is talent and depth at DT. If guys step up and we sign 2 beasts from Juco and we could be special.

I love how he's pushing the young guys in the bye week. If they improve and start pushing for time it's only going to make everyone else that much better.

this is why getting renfroe this year was absolutely key

Thanks Bobby...I knew I was missing someone. Jelani Hamilton was the other guy Golden said looks good this week. Is responding well. I'll go add that to the top!

Oh yeah, it was like watching a completely different defense out there. On another note regarding the defense, I feel the lack of any semblance of ready Div 1 talent at DT last year, made our LBs tougher. Now going back to Moore, I see him as a talent that is better than Renfrow but not Porter. He will be solid as a second teamer whether it on the 3-4 or 4-3, but we still need a headliner.

I dunno Bobby....have you seen the food that have been feeding him while keeping him locked up in the basement. Might might bust out and become the tazmanian devil!

I like it.... once Malcolm Lewis and Stacy Coley get going, UM's offense can elevate to another level.

Also getting Ufomba Kamalu and Jelani Hamilton ready to go before conference play is genius by the staff.... got to give Anthony Chickillo more plays off and those are the 2 guys that have to step up in order for the coaches to be able to do that.

It's vital that Kamalu and Moore are able to step in and be at least solid contributors next year.

He was already thrown to the fire his freshman year...might as well ride it out and get ready. I think he'll stay to his senior year so we would still get at least two productive years out of him, cuz it sure doesn't seem like Coach Golden is planning on shirt'n him this year. However does anyone remember hearing any of the coaches talk about his progress thru fall camp. Weight Gains/Loses Strength/Reps of 225? Anything?
I was hoping Moore would redshirt.

Now the blame has to be shared by everyone on offense, but, we have seen what dorsett and hurns bring to the table, lets see what #3 and #9 can do w some reps. It really can't get any worse :/

After reading AaronRodgersJewBeard comment in another thread about Clive and other WR were running around open and it was Morris that just wasn't getting the ball to them. So I cued up Canes FlashForward and FF it to the 2nd qtr and I was so busy looking at the line and QB that I didn't notice it. I already see missed opportunities that Morris had. They will get it cleaned up though...not really worried.

Exactly, JHall Canes. I dont think Al was speaking to any of these guys on the defensive line stepping up for this year. I think he was saying he wants them to get some good PT against bad comp over the next few games to get them ready for next year. I HIGHLY doubt Kamulu, Hamilton, or Moore get any serious burn when we play the UNCs, VTs, FSUs or even the Gtechs of the world. But why not get them some game exp against SavSt, USF, and BCookman...I also hope that Moore and Kamulu redshirt if they can.

Now Lewis and Coley are a diff story. Our WR core hasnt exactly lit the nation on fire. Im sure he is looking to turn up the heat on the competition out there.

Yeah I know he was thrown to the fire already but I just think THIS year we really don't need him and was hoping that he'd get a shirt. I believe a kid like Moore has the potential to be one of those kids that ends up being invaluable as a 5th year senior.

I do too, sooner though. Porter wasn't exactly setting the world on fire when he was first here either. You are grooming these kids to play a grown man's position. I've brought it up pretty much every time Moore has been criticized but you are talking about a kid Golden identified very early in the process. The coaches obviously saw something in him so we will see how his career plays out.

Just for the record, I didn't mean to imply that Moore wouldn't do anything until his senior year. I guess it was more that I look at the kid as having the potential to be a solid player, while at the same time not seeing him as a kid that ends up leaving early for the draft.
