I'll play wherever," said Lewis III, who has been working out as a slot receiver and running back at the Semper Fi practices. "I'll play wherever I fit in or wherever I can help the team."

Coming from Lake Mary Prep, a small, Class 2A private school, Lewis III knows he doesn't get the respect or attention that some of the players from bigger schools have received.

He was even a little concerned about how he would perform this week.

"Definitely and it was not because I was coming in here scared or anything, but I was anxious to see what it would be like," Ray III said. "Everybody always talks about me like this little 2A talent. All these other people are from huge schools and the game is so much faster and everyone is strong and there is more athleticism than at the level I'm used to, but all of us here are like that. Everybody here is going to big D-1 schools.

"So far people are saying that I'm doing great. I already knew I had it in me to perform, but it's nice to hear it from the other people like the analysts and other people who see that I can compete. It just gives me even more confidence and motivation to compete even harder."

He's ready to get to work in preparation for his Miami career. He's even more excited to know that he has a workout partner who will help push him to his limits.

"I can't wait to get started doing some more college-type workouts with my dad," Lewis III said. His dad makes his offseason home in Boca Raton, almost right in the middle between Lake Mary and the Miami campus in Coral Gables. "He'll be around even more now to help me in getting prepared. It will be nice."

I shall not doubt this kid

His dad came into UM at about 190 pounds tops. He was tiny. III is going to be a player here. I can just feel it. He's too much like his old man to be a failure.

I wouldn't give a **** if RL3 was a deaf mute gimp with one leg. You have to give Ray Lewis' kid a scholly. If he turns into a player that's just gravy.

Sapp was actually on NFL Network talking about the first time Ray came into the huddle as a scared ****less 17-year-old from a small town in Florida. He stuttered trying to get the play call out. Said he was lucky to be 200 pounds but could run all day long and catch anyone.

Golden, so far, has built a decent track record of grabbing lower ranked kids and them performing well. I'll give him a pass on this one and see what happens.

Ray was a state champion wrestler at Kathleen High. He was a very solid 200 pound 18 year old. Lakeland is a lot bigger than Plymouth Florida were Sapp came from.

Correct, Ray Lewis was a 2 x Florida State Champ at 189 lbs.

Chise, he wasn't "tiny". He was light, like u said, 190.

I'll never forget watching him play his first game against Colorado as a true freshmans. He looked like someone's little brother out there running around. He had sticks for legs and probably a 28 inch waist. But I think he finished the game with about 15-17 tackles. He was all over the field. I'm pretty sure he was a late replacement in the lineup against Colorado for someone who got hurt (Was it Robert Bass? Going purely off memory, so I'm probably off on that one.). They never got him out of the lineup after that.
