On satellite camps -

“I really believe that if a young man wants to come to Miami, he will come see us. I don’t want to wear my coaching staff out. Like I said, we had 168 opportunities to go and see everybody we thought we needed to see and we did that. We’ve invited guys to come see us at these camps and throughout the summer for unofficial visits and a bunch of them are coming. I’ve learned over the years that if you don’t get them on campus, the chance you get them is pretty slim.”

On reception from HS coaches over the spring -

“It’s been great, it’s been great. I haven’t heard anything but outstanding reviews. I’ve had coaches text me after some of our coaches go to campus and just say ‘hey, Ron Dugans just came through and I’m really excited about the direction of your program’. I get that on all of them, even my own son every once in a while. We’ve been very well received. I got out on the road during the contact period in January to a lot of the schools as well. Obviously seeing guys we had committed and also guys we were trying to recruit, but also just going to schools that have 2017s, 2018s, and beyond. So I got a chance to meet a lot of coaches then. We did clinics in Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade. Coaches clinics in the spring so we met a lot of coaches then. We had coaches come visit us, we called it Cane talk, on Wednesday nights. It allowed coaches to come in and talk football. I told the coaches today, ‘if you ever want to come on our campus, just give us a little heads up and we’ll talk ball or do whatever you want’.

On his philosophy with offers -

“Well, if you offer a guy a scholarship and he commits, I don’t want to turn around and say ‘I don’t want you anymore’. I don’t like that. I’m not saying things like that don’t happen sometimes and there could be reasons for that. There could be an academic reason or a behavioral reason, or something happens that’s unforeseen. As a policy, when we offer a guy I want it to be one that we would accept if they chose to come. That’s a big part of it. I think a lot of schools, especially not in the state, can offer as many as they want. Then if they don’t take that kid that year, they don’t have to come back to that school if they don’t want. I’m not saying everybody is doing it, but you’ll see a lot of out of state schools come in and offer a boatload of guys and sort it out later. I just want our evaluation process to be really sound where the position coach wants him, and the coordinator wants him. I want that kid to know that we are really sincere, so that’s kind of how we’re rolling right now.”

I guess he didn't hear Luther "cumdrinker" Campbell's reception because he hasn't met the new staff

I think the satellite camp comment may turn out to be shortsighted, but at the same time, I think it's a calculated risk to not ramp up that aspect of recruiting. Since the focus is on Florida/South Florida recruits, most recruits (even those without money) have plenty of opportunities to hitch a ride with HS coaches or other HS players to come visit. Also, Miami is a nice mini-vacation destination for OOS recruits/parents/coaches, so I'm sure once again, if there is a will, there is a way.

I'm also loving the Golden Rule play card (JESUS not FatAG)

I like the integrity Coach is portraying. The 3rd paragraph is an interesting one though. Curious to see how thins play out with the likes of Nick Roberts and others. I'm sure if we kill it this year on the field, there will some comers and goers.

Them and Michigan are main ones, but I honestly think Syracuse takes the cake! I don't think I've ever seen a school offer sooo many FL kids. It's literally as if they like FL kids so much that they don't care which ones they get lol

At least with Nick Roberts, he was offered by the previous staff. So that's an outlier to me. I love his recruiting and I love how he's genuine and honest with these kids.
