Richt adds Track star to roster for Fullback Depth

This is not a criticism of you, but it's kinda funny that you say "track star" and the article mentions Santana Moss. The guy is a shot putter. Doesn't mean he isn't relatively fast or that he won't be a nice addition to the football team, but the internet should slow its roll on the Santana comparisons.

He has competed for Italy internationally and is already one of the top throwers in Miami’s history. I see what you mean, but at 21 years old, that's definitely considered a strong resume in my book.

Shot putters have brute strength, so I like what Richt is thinking when he offered him to join the team.

If he's a shotputter, think what kind of stiffarm he can put on a tackler's head.

May have to gather up a head or two after a run, and put some sawdust on the grass to soak up the blood.

The Santana reference is solely based off him playing football while on a track scholarship per the article. The OP is the one who added "star"

Good for the young man, I hope he is not on a track scholarship because then the minute he enters a game that scholarship converts to football and he would use up one of few remaining scholarships available. Hopefully he is on academic scholarship.

That said rugby players usually transition well into American Football. Add in that good shot putters have to be explosive and powerful, while understanding body control along with leverage; leads me to believe he could become a devastating blocker.

Hometown Madrid, SP. Interesting move. Powerfulguy, with good academics as well, rugby background also speaks well to toughness. Wonder how this got initiated. Try to get to Kaaya through this monster with unbeatable upper body and arm strength. Nice path to the NFL is certainly a possibility. CMR thinking outside the box.

I agree, this guy is going to have a simple task, be a moving wall that marches forward. Good pickup

Very athletic build. Huge pickup. I expect great things from him.

P.S. LOL at the mythology of Santana Moss. Moss wasn't some unknown plucked from the track team. He was an incredible football player who was overlooked in HS because he played in an option offense.

The master evaluator, Butch Davis, found him and tried to use a track scholarship on him because we were in the midst of scholarship reductions. That didn't work because our veterans Omar Rolle and Magic Benton weren't Davis guys and quickly needed to be replaced.

Such a stupid rule. Just set an objective figure (as they did here by saying if the kid plays in any actual football game) for the other sport relating to participation and then allow the program to deem which sport the scholarship can be drawn from. There still could be abuse but it's too simplistic to just say that the scholarship always has to be drawn from football because it's the most popular highest revenue drawing sport- especially when it's with kids that weren't even recruited to your school for football to begin with.

Guy is a beast. No clue what type of football player he's going to be

He's gonna be the type who flattens people like a giant meatball rolling downhill.

The Blockfather. The Mauling Meatball. Call him what you will. This giant gindaloon is going to crush people.
