She's actually a pretty big football fan, her father worked for the University of Denver and when she was at Stanford she was a provost and was involved in hiring coaches at Stanford (Willingham and Green).

She even said her dream job was to be NFL commissioner.

Obviously she's got a massive name, but she's just not some token they are throwing in there, she definitely knows her stuff.
