A few solid left but it’s not enough!

But for real. It seems like it was a down year as far as 247 talent from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach

2025 - 5 guys in top 247
2024 - 9 guys in top 247

Early look at 2026 and there is 8 currently and that can obviously go up/down

You know what would remedy down years in SFL for recruiting?........ IF WE RECRUITED NATIONALLY INSTEAD OF WASTING RESOURCES ON FL KIDS WHO ARE LEGACIES OF RIVAL PROGRAMS!!!!!!!

That was Mario's biggest mistake this cycle. His arrogance and stubbornness to accept "No" works some years on the trail and bites you in the *** on the other years. We should have definitely pivoted harder once Pickett, Hanks, and Brown all committed months ago. Granted we don't know what their strategy is this upcoming year for our roster management. I'm going to wait until after the portal closes to January to really form my opinion.

We have absolutely recruited nationally under Mario Cristobal so… 7 top 100 players signed from out of state in Mario 3 full cycles.

Miamis top 2 signees from this cycle are from the west coast?

Down year in South Florida coincided with Mario's lowest rated class out of last 3 years.

Just hope our season next year is good enough to keep local talent home.

Who were the top South Florida players this cycle?

1.) Ben Hanks
2.) Josh Moore
3.) Bryce Fitzgerald
4.) Amari Wallace
5.) Greg Thomas
6.) Malachi Toney
7.) Ezekiel Marcelin
8.) Chris Ewald
9.) Cortez Mills
10.) Floyd Boucard
11.) Randy Adrika

? I mean it was weak

What I mean by this is that I want national recruiting to be a bigger focus for us. For too long, SFL kids have shown us how they feel about Miami and every year it feels like we get stories from people in the know about us not taking guys seriously and not recruiting them (Lagway, Drelon Miller, Trey Mcnutt, etc) because we don't feel like it's worth the effort or time because of where they're coming from only to then turn around and spend an entire cycle chasing guys like Ben Hanks, VB3, and Pickett, 2 of which are rival program legacies and then a guy who through the entire process made it clear that he was looking for any reason to not come here.

Understood. Mario should be a good enough recruiter with a 10 win season to win some of those battles. Something didn’t line up this year. Obviously those guys are defense recruits and the defense sucks… but as a recruiter he should be able to sell them on early playing time.

The crazy thing is, even with an undeniable decline in South Florida, local players had a huge year in the conference.

Xavier Restrepo, Jacorey Brooks, Breshard Smith, Ashton Gillotte, Oronde Gasden, Elijah Roberts, Andres Borregales, Desmond Reid, Marcus Tate and Isaac Brown were all top players in the ACC.

Only Top 100 type was Brooks, who disappointed at Bama and then rebounded at Louisville. It seems the decline is more concentrated in the highest-rated guys who have been failing to meet expectations.

I said this maybe year or so ago.

The higher ranked kids getting pampered like they already made it, while some lower ranked kids hit college with a chip on their shoulder.

Combine the pampering and expectations with a lack of development. Jeremiah smith an exception to the rule of course

Or being dragged around and played by recruits and their parents. Only to be sold to the highest bidder.

I knew West Boca, Northwestern and Chaminade were but I didn't know much about Heritage and St. Thomas.

Would u say Heritage had the best upperclassmen among those 5 with Toney, Byron Louis and Greg Thomas
Yes but Toney is a reclassie so he technically was for next year.

Heritage has the wrs . Denson an Bennett, Dia Bell, I think Gluehands Jr is back next year he didn't play this year.

St Thomas has wrs Julius Jones, minkah Fitzpatrick brother a whole bunch of youngsters over there.
All these teams will need lineman but they got the underclassmen skill talents. Mnw all their wrs are back except one..plus they likely add in the portal now that teddy brought a state champ
