Recruiting vs Portal Fanatics?

Ive been a recruiting fanatic since the early 80s (time of the 900#s, newsletters from texas, faxes, etc). But this portal stuff is like drinking from a firehose while flying a jet. I think......I like it more! Obviously a good team will recruit well and fill key holes during portal time which we are doing EXTREMELY well. But the rapid pace is awesome ONLY negative I'm not getting any sleep.

The portal is great for us now because we lack starters and depth at multiple positions but, if we do what we need to do, it will create a significant shift.

In addition to recruiting future classes, our staff will have to annually re-recruit guys we want so we don't lose them via the portal. For all those posters preaching "stack chips", the portal will make that much harder for any program. if players aren't playing, they're seriously thinking about going. And the portal just make it much easier for them to go as all other programs know who may be available.

I feel like the portal will change recruiting of a player because it will never stop. You will have to recruit a player to campus and then recruit them to stay. It will be interesting to see how teams respond. I’m curious if the SEC bag system will change to monthly payments instead of one lump sum. Kind of like making a choice of how you want your money if you win the lotto.

I was thinking along those same lines with the bags... I think portal is great and will even the playing field some. I love that Miami is ahead of the game on this and believe a lot of players will be interested in coming to Miami when they realize all the BS they were fed in recruiting isn’t all it’s cracked up to be..

The Portal is Parity. Great tool for us now, and future. As fans our loyalty and passion for the Canes, The U, is probably not the same as some of these kids, some yes, always , others not so much. Chasing other shiney objects and feeding there attention deficit. That’s why the whole Crib bs didn’t fly. Winning makes Miami a lot more attractive,(see shiner object), but returning to Glory just got a lot harder,
