Hey all, after what has been an absolutely crazy recruiting season to this point and likely to get even more crazy next week I have wondered if Golden and staff should flip the script on how they have handled recruiting. I think they need to take some of the power away from the kids who want to ***** around until signing day and take a "get on now or you miss the bus" mentality. I understand this could lead to us missing out on some of these me first type kids but do we really want those types here anyhow? I think if recruits knew that the U fills its slots early and moves on to next season, like its done at Texas, we would have a lot less of this kind of getting left at the altar nonsense. Not only that but the coaches can focus more of their energies on the next years class while the UFs and FSUs are fighting for this years scraps. Thoughts?

NOT A FAN OF THE WAY TEXAS RECRUITS (OR RECRUITED, HAVENT PAID THEM ANY ATTENTION THE LAST 2 YEARS)

I think Golden needs to reestablish a winning environment to do that. Can't go to a recruit and say commit now or **** you when you have a 7-5 record while Alabama is standing there saying take your time cause we just won the NC we can wait.

Im not a fan of the Texas approach at all. Texas constantly underachieves because the whole system in Texas is different than most other states. In Texas, HS football is a freaking obsession. Kids are coached at a level that u just dont see in other states. They are also exposed to much more sophisticated training programs earlier, and then you have the crazy sht of parents who hold their kids back grades so they will be bigger and older when playing in HS.

What this does is make Texas recruits seem like superstuds in HS, but those kids are just usually a year more developed than kids in other states. The problem is, many of them are already well into their "upside" when they get into school. So they plateau and often times dont live up to their hype, whereas kids from other states are more raw, but have more upside to develop at the next level. Texas basically has a giant farm system, but by taking kids that are big sh*t in HS down there as early as they do, they end up grabbing a lot of kids who have already peaked, and they miss kids who are just getting READY to blow up and have bigger upside at the next level.

Texas's philosophy doesn't work anymore, but even if it did, it would never work here. SoFla kids get too much attention to want to shut it down a year early. As sad as it is to say, there's also a lot more pride in Texas than there is here. Kids there grow up wanting to play for Texas and hear about it from everyone, parents, neighbors, coaches, etc. Kids down here claim Miami is their dream school then sign with our biggest rivals. High school coaches are huge attention whores and push their own agendas. South Florida kids are divas and need coddling, so we just have to chip away at them all year and hope they see the light.
