Why does the offensive coaches close anyone they want, Pope, Lingard, Thomas, Jordan and the defensive side of the ball seems to miss on their top targets, Surtain, Campbell, Dent, Henderson and now possibly Stevenson? Defensive side of the ball just cant seem to close even though our defense has been great.

They should recruit AR brother as a RB. We would get him but going after him as a CB/S means we could miss.

Liked this post just to have an exaggerated influence on your post meter thing

Most of the coaches on defensive side of ball were all rookies starting here.. Offensive guys have more experience and the head coach is more on that side, so Richt is probably more involved also.. You get what you pay for maybe?

We lost out on a few recruits in 2018 but not that many. In 2017 we lost out on quite a lot of recruits on both sides of the ball

Bama - Jobe & Surtain
FSU - Samuels
UGa - Campbell
UF - Chatfield

WR, RB, and TE recruiting is about elite as you can get. TE is on another level. If we get Keon we will far and away the best TE recruiting school in the nation. QB is good(assuming we land a good QB this class), but not elite. The OL and the entire defensive side is severely lacking. If we can fix the OL and Defensive recruiting we will be back.

You know, the staff regularly looks to the Internet for recruiting advice, but they only check the Recruiting board, therefore your wisdom will be missed.

Many public message boards have post minimums to start new threads. Keeps newbies and trolls from spamming up the boards.

That is true but the owners probly want to keep the hits coming

But u do have a good point

Defense is harder because thats where u become elite so teams especially the elite ones put all there resour$es into defensive studs.

In all honesty, Richt has invested more in his offensive staff. Dugans and Brown, in particular, are experienced, talented recruiters and coaches. Hartley is clearly a talented recruiter. Our DB coaches aren’t proven coaches or recruiters, our LB coach is brand new, and our DL coach just got here also. There is nothing wrong with noticing the difference in our recruiting successes, but the answer shouldn’t seem so puzzling.
