Recruiting Grievances Thread

Other than Jobe, I don't think there have been any "misses." This staff's recruiting is light years better than anything we had under Al Golden or Randy Shannon.

Every gripe I have is with the scenarios tossed out by ppl on this board - what if we miss on Surtain, what if we miss on Campbell, what if we don't land another DT, hey let's recruit this underrated South Florida 3-star or steal that recruit from UCF, etc.

But our class as it sits today is awesome. We can keep it awesome by signing Nesta, adding Surtain, Campbell, Chatfield, another stud DT, one of Meadows/Petit Frere/Barnes, and one of Ezzard or Schwartz, and we're good to go.

Hey has anyone watched Kool's interview on Rivals about recruiting? I don't have an account, I'm curious as to what he said.

I saw it,he was asked about recruiting and Kool asked for a dictionary to learn what that word meant.

**** fellas, I understand that with competent and proven coaching, expectations rise...but lets not try to block out the sun with one finger...we just signed 80% of a monster class. Still some work to do, but we are in a great position. Sure, I want an "elite" (That's for you Brock) OL recruit, but coaches have been doing fine. We need to close on 3 of the 4 American Heritage croots though.

People whine about who we don’t get, let’s celebrate the guys who have chosen to wear the orange and green already while waiting for the other part of the class to sign in February

This class is loaded with a few elite national kids and a bunch of the best recruits in Florida and we will be adding even more come signing day

Who’s whining? Are we not allowed opinions? OP even declared this isn’t a judgement and staff bashing thread...

Take a deep breath. Come out of your set. And learn to appreciate that there is usually a middle ground and room for laughs. If you've got no grievances, then that's a Festivus miracle and this thread will not serve any purpose for you. If you have a grievance, please air it out without issue. Either way, it doesn't take away from the (overall) great job the staff has been doing.

Don’t like that we didn’t take Grimes, don’t like that we came in that late with Asante, don’t like how we disgraced ST26 in Jobes recruitment. That being said you bring me the AH 4 & it’ll wipe my memory like a handful of xanax.

Pretty much.

Not too fussed about the Jobe / Taylor thing. You have to do what you have to do to get these recruits to sign - which generally means flattering their egos and swallowing your pride a little bit.

I think the standard right now is Clemson's front 4. Frustration for us not being there yet and not having anyone set in stone on our radar that we (at least I) know of. But I'm sure the staff knows this.

Yeah they know they are ranked #1 in sacks and #2 in tfls in the country even with a disadvantage in recruiting rankings. Regardless they out performed schools who had higher rankings. You get a competent qb in there even just a normal power 5 starter who can hit targets **** even a group of 5 qb who can hit targets we defintiely wouldn’t have lossed to pitt..... that throw to Jeff Thomas against clemson they defintiely would have hit that and that changes the complete outcome of the game period

With all due respect. Rosier could've nailed that throw to Jeff Thomas and JT could've taken it to the house. Clemson was still going to win that game. We need DTs in a bad way right now.

Smh, only Miami fans can find a way to complain about anything on the dline when we have the best assistant coach in football coaching it... relax there is a whole other signing day....

Coaching is one part of the job.

There’s no doubt Coach Kool is the cream of the crop when it comes to that aspect, but his recruiting prowess is another story. Thus far, he’s been solid at getting ends and very subpar at getting tackles.

Any criticism he receives for the latter is valid. Games are won in the trenches.

On that note: I wanted the WR that ended up going to Notre Lame...kid is Andre Johnson 2.0

Not a fan of this staff's ability to close. They do a good job of getting recruits to sign early, but they haven't closed well. That makes me nervous for the AH-4.

I hope we haven’t taken the position that just because we had one good season and the noles And UFAG are dumpster fires we can slow play kids or come in a week before signing day and kids are just gonna come running.

I think we are finding out that this ain’t the situation and you still have to “ show these kids the LOVE” to have them sign with you.We aren’t Bama and we sure don’t have SEC type bags so hard work and doing correct evaluations on if we are getting played by a recruit are very important.

I still think slurping on the Connecticut *** cost us Samuels.Seems Everyone But the staff and Pete knew that fool was all Bama.We can’t afford to let this happen.

Let’s see how this staff closes. We have a great class signed so far.Closing on the AH kids can make this class elite. We have everything in our favor to get most of them.Lets see what happens.

Let's see how they do this year before making that judgement. Especially if we win the bowl game, there should be no reason not to finish strong. I don't know if we get everybody, that's near impossible. Every single one of those kids likes other schools to an extent, so it's not just Richt showing a little love and they're locks. That said, we've had a pretty great year so there's no performance excuse.
