Miami right outside of top five

Miami received a commitment last week from Australian combo guard Dejan Vasiljevic, pushing the Hurricanes to the verge of a top five class in the 2016 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings.

The Hurricanes under Jim Larranaga have the No. 6 ranked class.

The Miami recruiting class is led by five-star McDonald's All American Dewan Huell. At 6-10, Huell is a skilled big man who plays with an aggressive athletic edge.

On the perimeter Miami added another physical competitor in Bruce Brown, who is ranked No. 34 in the 247Sports Composite but is considered a five-star prospect in the Top247.

Rounding out the class with Vasiljevic is developing four-star big man Rodney Miller.

Miami trails only Duke in the ACC Recruiting Rankings.

Wasn't someone saying last week that the class wasn't elite? Larranaga the gawd

wow, incredible! Will this be the first time Miami will have a higher rated recruiting class in bball than football?

This is an amazing accomplishment, especially when some idiots are saying Coach L has lost it, he's too old, he can't recruit, etc. BS. He's got a monster class, a few key returnees and at least one really good transfer.

Izundu/Miller
Huell
Lawrence
Reed/Palmer/Muhammad (spell?)/Brown
Newton/Vasiljevic

Huell is an absolute monster but lets be real here, that wasnt a get by coach L, he would have came here almost no matter what.

Ok. There were numerous people on here saying there was no chance he was coming here. So, please, go on.

It just seems like every day we are breaking new ground in basketball. These last 3 years have been amazing.

I'll let the other posters speak to whether he was an automatic Cane (except to say this, when has any big time local kid ever been an automatic to Miami? Not since Ochiel Swaby who's got the Miami Country Day Girls Team straight rollin')

More importantly Bruce Brown is almost as highly regarded as Huell. Brown might be the highest rated Cane (No. 31) I can remember, but to get 2 Top 35 kids is crazy.

And NO WAY Miller plays next year.

The saying Huell was coming here no matter what is ridiculous. He was ALL FSU for a longtime. None of his teammates thought Miami had any chance. His own coach is surprised he ended up picking UM
