REAL TALK: SHANE READY TO GO PRO

Don't post in this forum you fat-headed mope. I wouldn't want your strain of retardation to spread.

Sorry, he's not ready yet. He doesn't do this game after game after game. He doesn't do this every other or every third game. Luckily for us, he's not ready.

Shane could average 25 a game for the rest of the season and he wouldn't be ready. There is no market for 5'11" point guards in the NBA coming out two years early. His decision-making can still be shaky, at times, and he needs to continue to work on his basket penetration and mid-range game. Coming out as a junior? A very long shot and not likely unless he's a Top 10 lottery pick.

If Shane was 6'2" or better, he would be a low lottery pick this year. But he ain't, so that's that.

This. If he were three or four inches taller, he's probably a first round pick right now. At 5'11"? Not so much.

Also, you might want to put a question mark in the title of this thread, since you're asking a Q. Don't scare us like that! lol

Shane looks way better than Austin Rivers did before he went pro. I guess Rivers has a few inches on Shane though.

That height difference means everything when it comes to being an early entrant PG. There's no fuss with overdrafting dudes, as long as they "look" the part, because every GM thinks their team can develop the player's game to fill the frame.

Or unless you're an absolute freak like Chris Paul, which Barry's Son is not.

Unfortunately we live in an NBA world where under 6'0 is a major handicap to GMs/Owners. Shane is 5'10/5'11, so he already has the handicap. He won't be predicted as a first round pick, second round isn't guaranteed.

Something tells me $$$$ is no object because dad has it and I think he will at least stay 1 more year if not graduate.

This is a good thing by the way, don't be worried that our players have success and are entering these conversations.

I think if Shane had a lot more hype coming into the season that he would be getting far more publicity and there would be a greater shot of him going pro. That being said, if he goes on a terror during the ncaa and acc tournaments all bets are off

I would say he could play a role similar to Norris Cole, but Cole is listed at 6'2 175... going to be tough for him to leave early... He can really enjoy his next 2 years in college and live a great life and then see if he can find his way in the league.

Ty Lawson is doing well and some team will take Larkin in the first whenever he declares.

Wow, this proves it. Once 5'11 guy left after his junior year and Larkin will be a first round pick whenever he declares.

Exactly. You look at the Heat's PGs, and they look pretty small, relatively speaking. Cole is 6'2" and Chalmers is 6'1", I believe. At 5'11", I have no doubt that Shane can find his way into the league and play well there eventually, but leaving early and being a first round pick? I just don't see it, at least not this year. The fact that we're even having this conversation is awesome, though, and it shows you how well he's been playing.

Next year will be his time to shine. He will have to carry the entire team on his back. If he plays well and takes the team somewhere, then he will have his chance. Regardless, he is one of the best PG's in the nation right now.

While he is undersized, his speed would be a challenge to matchup with. He could easily be the third PG for a team and work his way up.
