After a good performance last Friday, Canes running back Henry Parrish took some time to discuss the team's preparation for their upcoming showdown against #23 ranked Texas A&M. Parrish touched upon a range of topics, from the team's "Fearsome Foursome" running back rotation to reflections on last year's matchup with the Aggies.
When asked about what was working well for him during last Friday's game against Miami (OH), Parrish emphasized the importance of being downhill runners. "Just being downhill, keeping our head forward, moving the chains. It's really just moving the chains to make sure our offense just keeps going," said Parrish.
The senior running back also looked back at last year's game against Texas A&M, acknowledging the red zone struggles that plagued his team. "What I remember from that game is just eliminating petty little mistakes, like penalties and stuff like that," Parrish said. "We beat ourselves last year, and this year, we have a more competitive group. These guys are ready to work, man, and I'm looking forward to that."
One of the major talking points this season has been the team's rotation of running backs, a group Parrish fondly refers to as the "Fearsome Foursome," a term typically reserved for dominant defensive lines. Last year, Parrish had to carry the load virtually by himself. This season, he's excited about the depth. "Of course, you know it's all about keeping guys fresh and just rotating. This year I feel like with all the guys we have now, you can just throw in anybody and get the job done," Parrish explained.
Parrish also spoke highly of his teammate Mark Fletcher, a freshman running back who impressed in his first college game. "It was good to see Mark getting out there and doing what he does," Parrish shared. "It was a fun experience, and I'm happy to share the load with him and be in the backfield with him. I'm just looking forward to what this year holds for us."
Another teammate Parrish was excited about was Don Chaney, who has had a difficult past couple of years with injuries but managed to score a super touchdown in the last game. "It was good to see my boy back out there, getting his feet back wet," he expressed.
