Just saw on Twitter that Ray Lewis is the headline speaker at LSU's upcoming football camp. Whats up with that? LSU can't find one of their own alums to come and speak?

Ray will speak to anyone that'll invite him. I just sent Genron a proposal to get him to address our Spring Game tailgate. We're negotiating "gas and McD's money" but Ray is seemingly pumped.

Ray loves speaking. He can't speak to our team 50 times a year. He's the most iconic football player of his time.

I thought when we took Ray Jr, Daddy Ray was suppose be around the program a lot more? I mean that is what everyone said would happen.

he spoke at Bama last year....he is going where the cash is....

Yes he did, and they choked at the end in a horrible manner. I think they saw Ray, heard Ray at the beginning of the season and new they could NEVER BE Ray, or any Cane, and it destroyed their inner strength. Ray put the hex on them. That is my view and I am sticking with it.

One of the greatest LBs ever. I don't see the issue.
This. He's still a Cane, always will be, and is just as quick as any of our alums to show pride in UM. If other schools want to pay him to speak, then so be it. The difference is--they have to pay for it, and he can only speak on his passion for football to them. When he speaks to our guys, we get that passion for football along with his fire for the Canes, and we get it for free (sans RL3's scholly, if you're counting that).

This. I bet LSU broke him off at least 75k to come speak. You think he does that **** for free for anyone else besides the U? LOL. That is the reward we get for him being an alumni. The kids get to hear him and the school pays nothing. No doubt in my mind he hits any other school not named UM up for major cash to drop some knowledge on them. You better get use to it.

so ***, this thread.

I guess you never talked to a woman besides your wife.... or husband considering how *** you sound.

Good one.

Just seemed a little odd that a "storied" football program like LSU would have to reach out to one of our alums for a motivational speech. I would think the same thing if we brought in an LSU alum to speak to our team.

LOL Im just being a dcik.. really though, this is a non issue bro, Ray Lewis has earned the right to step onto any football field or locker room in America.. It really isnt going to make a difference, he's teaching young men.. look at it that way, he's giving them someone to look up to or something to look forward to.

Speeches dont win games..

The sweet thing is that Bama and LSU, the two Titans of the mighty SEC, can't find an alum they would want to speak to their players more than a Cane they have to PAY! Now Bama, they got them some alums, but they pay Ray. Joe Willie, Kenny the Snake, just a few 1st round picks, and they pay Ray. LSU, well they don't have that much by way of greats, a couple here and there, so that is a little more understandable. Oh wait, I just remembered Joe Willie sat on the Miami bench during our first NC game -- maybe he would rather be remembered that way.
