Just to be clear....not every 5 star will end up being amazing and not every 3 star will end up being terrible, but at the end of the day...Rankings matter! I have said all along Richt needs to pull top 10 classes to get Miami where it needs to be. These are his class rankings since coming to Miami.
2016-#21 This class is all but gone. Only a few players will be in the roster from this class next year. Finley, Irvin, McCloud, Bethel, Homer?, Jackson?, Shaq?, Pinckney?.
2017-#12 This class gets you started on where you need to be. Unfortunately a few highly rated guys have already left. Thomas, DJ Johnson, Dean graduation but solid foundation.
2018-#8 This class was loaded even with a few misses at the end. Follow the trend though. Mark Richt is flipping the Roster.
If we can get most of those 2016 Juniors to come back then we will finally have some depth and talent at all spots for the first time in a very long time. 2019 Miami fell flat on their face in recruiting. This could have been another top 10 class but will likely be around 20. My point is, if we produce on the field next year and get back to a top 10 class which is very possible every year...then we are positioning ourselves to be in the category of the picture below. This also shows how far off we are. Does Richt deserve two more years to build a championship roster!?!? That’s another discussion for another day, but the 2018 class will be seniors by the time we have a roster to compete nationally in my opinion.
