Great assistant and DC and player for us. If you cut him open he would bleed orange and green. The man is still a true Cane in spite of being a terrible HC. Blame our incompetent athletic dept leadership for allowing him to get hired. Go the cheap route and you get cheap results.


After we win a few 'ships with Golden, people won't get as worked up about him as they do, and we can remember the good times we had with him. Those early 2000s defenses were a thing of beauty and hate him or not, he had a hand in that.

He was a bad coach, foolish and lazy recruiter and a Cane. He was truly overwhelmed by the position. People, coaches and kids, didn't want to work for or with him. Every Cane was hoping he would be great, but he wasn't. It is what it is....

Again a mediocre offense who were dead last in just about every category last year, despite missing their top running back and wide out still picked up apart for over 400 yards. Well...yes and no. After the ACC move and CFB's shift to more spread theories, I would have to agree. Any OC with a higher level of offensive acumen absolutely carved Shannon and his "schemes" up.

Who? Petrino? Petrino kills everyone with his offense... The guy was a good defensive coach and you can't take that away from him... Even when the talent was going south he still had nationally rank defenses... The guy had walkons like Nanton become good pass rushers...
