I talked to a staff member last month and asked straight up about the progress of recruiting at the defensive line. He responded with "We'll be fine, we'll find our guys. We're not worried about it. Were just gonna have to grab a couple prep or Juco kids, but we're not worried about it."

Just something to keep in mind with the apparent position changes of O'Donnell and Briscoe. If anything, the staff feels better about the DL situation than most of us do and they know something we don't in regards to a recruit that we aren't expected to land or something along those lines.

I also think this an indication that they really like the other guys who are playing right now and if we do in fact bring in a few JUCO guys, these kids could get buried. We need OL and didn't sign a TE last year so this gives them an opportunity to make a contribution next year. The numbers start to get interesting if we do add some JUCO kids. In bold are the players I feel will definitely be in the mix next year. I believe any JUCO guys who come in will eat more into the older JAG minutes than the younger guys. We really need help at DE more than anything...we need a speed rusher off the edge BADLY! I would love to be able to redshirt this next class.

DE
Cain (Sr.)
Greene (Sr.)
Chickillo (jr.)
R. Williams (rSo.)
Hamilton (So.)
McCord (So.)

i meant by us not getting a JUCO or 2 in... just wonder where would would be defensively with some more QB pressure.. probably still 4-3 or 5-2 at best but would be feeling better at our defense..

Ahhh, gotcha.

I'm not sure Al was comfortable taking a bunch of JUCOs yet last year, just speculating though. I think we will see 2, maybe more, in this class if they find the right ones.

He tried. That kid Salt was scheduled to visit but his transcripts couldn't get through admissions. He had a teammate that was pretty good too. Salt committed to UF at first but later flipped to Utah. Both ended up at Utah. Then there was Autry who visited but I always thought he was an SEC during his recruitment.

Not 100 percent sure, but I believe Miams staff went hard after Denico Autry last year who was one of if not the best Juco Defensive Ends in the nation. I hink he came to Miami or an official visit as well. Safety play has not been great either this year for Miami, and they tried to get Gerald Bowman who was the number 1 juco safety in the nation. As far as Juo D-Tackles, I am Aldo pretty sure they went after Brandon Moore who eventually signed with Texas and a couple of other kids. It's not like Miamis staff did not try and bring in top level Juco kids, they went after some of the best, if not the best and unfortunately struck out on getting them to sign with Miami. It's not like they did not try though.

Yes, I'm sure that one of our staff members is going to tell young Peter that they are very worried they won't get their players on the DL in this current recruiting class. What the **** do you expect them to say? Shiiiiiiit man.

Denico Autry was way out of our price range.

It's also not that easy to get JUCOs admitted here.
