Assuming that, as a result of surgery, he wants to give up/abandon football, and just remain on baseball scholie.
Can it be done under NCAA rules re once recruited by FB you MUST be on FB scholie. Can he voluntarily relinquish his FB eligibility, thus freeing up another scholie for FB program?

Thompson is an outstanding athlete.

Another question is has he ever practiced with the football team?

He had to be on a football scholarship his first year because he was recruited for football. But, he hasn't played. If he doesn't play this coming year, the scholarship can be baseball. After that, I don't know how it would be handled if he played football in 2014 .

If he completely gives up football than he can go on a baseball scholarship. As long as he attends football practices than he will remain on a football scholarship, because he was recruited by the football staff.

He'd have to be put back on a Football scholly if he quit and came back. A players scholly has to be counted towards the highest ranking sport they play.

Yeah, I was talking about no football from here out, cause it looks like he will never play.
