Why don’t schools like sta or ah let the kids sign during the early period and then can still include them in big feb celebration they like to have? Or have 2 big signing days? I imagine at some point they’ll change their stance on this. It doesn’t make sense.

I don't see how a high school can tell a player they aren't allowed to sign early. What if one of these kids lose their scholarship offer between now and then? If say god forbid one of them gets hurt during off season training or track and they lose their scholarship, can the parents of that player then turn and sue the high school?

I agree. Many reasons this doesn’t make sense. Have 2 big ceremonies. Or have a quiet signing in December and then have them in the ceremony in feb. It’s not difficult to have the kids who sign early have a fake signing in February just for show.

They don’t really tell a player whether they can or can’t sign early, but certain schools don’t allow early enrollment for credits reason. Normally the catholic schools are tough because they need an extra religion course to graduate that you can’t take online.

In Blades’ case, since he’s not able to even enroll early, I‎t doesn’t really matter if he signs early or not.

I understand and get they can’t enroll early for those reasons and I’m not worried about guys like blades. I’d just think schools would want guys who are committed to sign early to know where they stand and can focus on other kids and not worry about a kid bolting at the 11th hour. And as mentioned, a kid may want to sign to make sure his ship is secured barring an injury after the season that may jeopardize his spot or maybe having a staff move on from him at the 11th hour.

Why doesn’t AH allow EE?

This is year one of the early signing period. I have to believe the process will evolve over the next handful of years.

in the current situation, if sta is confirmed to not allow early signees, this benefits us greatly with samuel. instead of him signing right after the high of an official to fsu, we can roll out the carpet right before the traditional signing day.

Not a big deal with Samuel, if he’s confused or unsure he can wait and take more time.

That’ll change fast enough once kids start to avoid STA because of this. EE is starting to become the norm

kids aren't going to stop going to sta because of that. ee has always been around and the no-ee track hasn't stopped them from producing elite players year in and year out. not being able to sign early is a little bit of a bummer, but the quality of the program is way more important than that.

plus it's not like anyone can just ee. there has to be space in the previous year's class for it to even happen.

Stop. EE hasn’t always been around. And not to this extent. There is clearly an advantage to EE.

where a huge problem will happen in the future is when kids sign early and then the coaching staff is fired. some of the kids will not want to go to that school or maybe they don't like the new coach. that will probably be the first major test of this ruling. i forsee the ncaa making a rule change that if you sign early and a coach is fired, you can be released from the early enrollment contract

If a coach is let go aren't the players allowed now to transfer without a punishment? Would be the same in this case.

Most coaching changes occur prior to dec 20. Most will usually happen after the season, not bowl season. Unless a coach resigns for an nfl job.

I think that's true for head coaches and major offensive/defensive coordinators, but it's tough to have an entire coaching staff assembled by 12/20. IMO, that's one of the reasons early signing puts teams in transition years at an even bigger recruiting disadvantage.
