Brock Vandagriff is a 6'3" 180 pound future quarterbacking stud from Bogart, Georgia. Vandagriff recently won the QB MVP honors at the Rivals 3 stripe camp event in Atlanta, Georgia. The impressive feat about that? He was just a freshman. Canes InSight will align our focus on Miami's most recent offer in this edition's breakdown.
Footwork/Rhythm In game film shows a propensity to add additional unnecessary steps to his drop and to be inconsistent in this area. In his defense, his offensive line was very porous. However in his camp film, he was much more refined in this area and shows much more improvement in the area of footwork. Limited game film shows some balls thrown late. Needs to anticipate the wide receiver breaks better. Will throw when receiver is visually open.
Accuracy/Arm Strength/Mechanics Very natural thrower of the football with no noticeable throwing hitch idiosyncrasies. Takes the ball directly to a throwing position seamlessly. Some very noticeable pop on his football. Will no doubt have one of the strongest arms in his class come senior year. A 60 yard plus thrower now with straight line trajectory on intermediate throws. Need more in game footage to fully gauge accuracy. Very good arm talent for a soon to be sophomore.
Mobility Shows long run touchdown capability and lists a 40 time of 4.75. Also plays wide receiver and is a three sport athlete. Shows good pocket presence and understands where the pressure is coming from. Can extend plays naturally and has the ability to factor in the QB run capacity.
Roman Rank: Vandagriff has limited game film but you can already see what has so many coaches excited about this future prospect. He has the prototypical frame and shows enough mobility to keep defenses guessing. Then the arm strength for a freshman is impressive. This is definitely a kid who will be able to make all the throws on the next level.
Vandagriff still has a ways to go to be the finished product I know he can be. But his recent camp work was rather impressive. The poise and the ability to link up with receivers he did not have any chemistry with was note worthy. Those events can be murderous for quarterbacks. Many receivers like to add that "and one" mix tape flare to their routes and disrupt timing.
In the end, I love this areas ability to produce high end quarterbacking talent and Vandagriff will definitely be the name come 2021. Offers incomming young man. InSight will continue to follow this recruitment for quite some time. Let's just hope that Vandagriff doesn't wear that high school wolverine style helmet come the next level. Roman Rank: 4 stars
