The class of 2015 has a number of talented quarterback prospects that have already burst onto the radar of college coaches. One of those is Ricky Town (Ventura, Calif./St. Bonaventure).
Class of 2015 quarterback Ricky Town (Ventura, Calif./St. Bonaventure) has thrown for more than 1,000 yards five games into his sophomore season. Miami (Fla.), UCLA and a host of other programs are showing early interest.
Town joins Kevin Dillman (La Mirada) as a top California quarterback prospect for the 2015 cycle.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound strong-armed signal caller with good feet and pocket presence was nearly perfect in his first varsity start, going 10-of-11 for 175 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-0 win over Garfield. He followed up his hot start to the 2012 season with 340 yards and three scores in a 40-35 win over Centennial, and currently has St. Bonaventure sitting at 4-1 on the season.
Through five games, Town has more than 1,000 yards passing and has completed over 70 percent of his attempts.
“So far, its (season) been going really well,” he said. “We have a very good team, and our coach does a great job of getting us prepared every week. I’ve played pretty well, but I have a lot to improve on. I’ve got to get faster with my reads, and just keep improving in every area.”
For Town, it’s the St. Bonaventure playbook that has been the biggest adjustment to playing varsity football.
“The complexity of the offense that we run has been a big adjustment,” he said. “We have a 500 page playbook with our West Coast offense.”
While the sophomore is just five games into his high school career, his recruitment is already heating up with several major programs eyeing him.
“UCLA is showing a lot of interest,” Town said. “Michigan, LSU, Oklahoma State and Miami (FL) are also showing interest. Miami wants to offer me, and I’m going down there in a couple of week to watch their game (against North Carolina) with my teammate Bryce Dixon. Boston College also said they want to offer me,”
The possibility of an offer from the Canes is exciting to Town.
“It would be great if Miami offered,” he said. “I went down there over the summer, won the quarterback MVP of the camp and really liked everything about the visit and the coaching staff.”
An offer from one of two in-state programs would also grab Town’s attention.
“Southern California or Stanford would be great get offers from,” he said. “Both have great programs and universities.”
When Town has the time, he works with quarterback instructor Anton Clarkson, the son of well-known quarterback coach Steve Clarkson.
“I work out once a week with (Clarkson) in the off-season,” he said. “It’s tough to get much time because we have our off-season at St. Bonaventure, too. When I work with Anton, it’s a lot of footwork and timing of throws, but it’s mostly footwork.”

We are after his TE Dixon as well. Would be great to follow up with Town after Olsen....we do have our work cut out for us though.
