i like dorsett's speed as a wr, but he has no business being back there to return punts.
From what ive seen these couple of weeks, I like what i saw in Dallas Crawford. quick and shiffty *** ****. Kind of remimds me of the "Pimp " collier. Try him out next year! i thought malcom lewis could have done better than dorsett this year returning punts.
we need a game breaker out there.

+1 on having Dallas Crawford returning punts. The guy looks like a play maker. He's not going to be confined to RB, I don't think. Maybe a little WR, some wildcat, spot RB , and PR. I believe we need to get him on the field one way or another.

It's not a knock on Dorsett for me. I think he's good enough at WR that maybe you don't want to risk him on PR. I'm not crazy about starters returning punts unless there is something special about them.

Agree 100% said the same thing the whole season... Duke, D. Crawford, maybe even Antonio Crawford. He was a playmaker in HS so why not! Maybe even Artie Burns... who knows!

I thought Duke should have been returning punts all year

Co-sign. I think this may be due to Al taking it easy on his health and letting him heal up for next year. He has the ability to get us into opposing territory/FG range everytime he returns one back. That is extremely valuable.

I suspect Dorsett was back there bc they did not want to risk a true freshman fumbling a punt.

Dorsetts hands werent always the best at times.

I don't recall him fumbling many punts, if any. And even if Dorsett was not ideal, I'm sure they felt he was more reliable fielding punts than a freshman.

For the most past, Dorett's hands were reliable. But putting someone back there that serves as being as "reliable" aint going to cut it. Again, its not a knock on Dorsett, because i think he is a great Wr- Pure speed with good solid hands (with the exception of those drops in ND), but we need some one with better quickness and wiggle. Dorsett's cut take way too long and his change of direction ability is not to his favorite. Having a good punt returner is essential to winning close games.

I like Dorsett at KOR. He has good straight speed and long speed. He's a great fit for that along with Duke.

But you're right about him not having the quickness/wiggle to return punts.

We don't need our best player on offense getting leveled on punt returns. At least with kickoff returns, he has time to assess and make people miss. Only takes one stupid opposing player to ruin a guy on a punt return. Just not worth it on the risk/reward front. Definitely think Crawford should get looks back there if he's up for it, but the #1 key is just making the catch.

one of the most underrated things from a punt returner is when to call fair catch or when not to.

if it looks like the ball is taking a bad bounce, you have to fair catch it.

if it looks like you will most definitely be knocked the ***** out, you have to fair catch it.

Dorsett was less than satisfactory at this.

i would have liked a far more dynamic player returning punts as well. i'm just stating what i believe is the reason they put Dorsett back there. and whether you agree w/ them or not, there is at least a reasonable rationale for putting him back there ... as compared to a coach that sticks a freakin' tight end as your return guy

I would like to see Crawford as well

Artie Burns I'd imagine will get a chance to do it as well

dorsett throws up his hand before the ball is snapped..we are like 100th in the nation in punt returns...its not like our D makes a lot of stops where teams punt...but we need an aggressive young guy with vision...**** Sean Taylor and Ed reed were great PRs....
