Al Golden and Penn State had mutual interest. Waiting to see what happened. Munchak becoming available? Al upset PSU setup other interviews?

Nobody i've talked to wants Munchak.....he's an NFL guy, not viewed as a guy who would be a great recruiter, and a guy people wouldn't even be considering if he hadn't gone to Penn State. I think his interview was in case they missed out on everyone else.

So who is their guy?

That's bs. Oh yeah. Al couldn't wait another 24 hours but interviewed himself. My thought is his family wants to stay here, he has an amazing class coming in, he doesn't really want to go through sanctions again.

I never saw PSU as such a great opportunity. He has one of the two or three most fertile recruiting areas right under his feet--why should he want to go to Pennsylvania, where HS football is no longer the best. So, he lost some blue chippers. Contrary to what most here believe, we've never gotten every single blue chipper to stay home.

We still don't know which, if any, of the guys we lost were bought. There are some things and factors we just can't control. As long as we're competing with the southern schools, the SEC, FSU and perhaps, Clemson, we'll always face unfair competition.

I'd been hearing stories about FSU for years, but, for some reason, the NCAA would not look at them. I think there was some credibility to the stories, both based on the sources and what seemed to be very specific and unique facts. Stuff that my sources would just not make up. They've never had to face any kind of scrutiny from the NCAA that I can recall--ever.

At this point, i don't know. Like i said in other threads, i think Al was #1, Franklin #2. I think right now it's Franklin or bust....but i just don't know if he is ready to pull the trigger with all the NFL interest and Penn State doesn't want this to drag out. If Penn State goes with Munchak, i think it's b/c they missed out on everyone else.

I hate Penn State. Almost as much as I can't stomach PSU fans. I would love to believe that Al turned down the job.....for awhile there (even though we had our reasons to bid him farewell) I was sick over the thought that our coach would ditch us for another college job and not only any job - but to those arrogant *****. I'm surrounded by them and they are the WORST. So, while I'm conflicted over how this ended, I am also relieved. + I hope he can salvage the class.

he turned psu down a few years ago. He obviously turned them down again because his statement sounds like he pulled himself out of any contention. The PSU almuni actually want him. Everyone forgets in his opening press conference here he said "I was always amazed how no coach stayed here more than 5 years. i want to change that" He always said he wanted to be here long term. Also, coach d said "Played for penn state but I was a miami fan. i just wasnt fasted enough to get offered"
That being said, I want to win and win now. i was very ****ed because i thought he was gone. However, we have to hope for the best now which starts by closing this great 2014 class out.
