I'm sure we've done this exercise on the board already, so here it is again just incase if we didn't. Here is what I have.

PG Nijel Pack
SG AJ Staton-McCray
SF Matthew Cleveland (Think he goes back to the 3 spot this season)
PF Brandon Johnson
C Lynn Kidd

What say you?

Blackmon at the one. Rest is spot on. Jalil will force his way onto the court sooner than later

I actually hope this is the way it shakes out. Staton-McCray is more of a natural 2 than Blackmon and gives us far more size and positional versatility. Kid was one of the more underrated pickups of the cycle. You can also slide him to the 3 and play him in lineups with guys like Blackmon and Bethea.

Expect Nigel and Jalen to start at the guard positions. Don’t bother labeling them PG and SG as they will be interchangeable much like Pack and Wong were 2 seasons ago.
Bethea will be the first guard off the bench and will play the 2 and Nigel or Jalen will then play as a more traditional PG.

From what I have been told about the shooting drills and stats they keep in practice, expect to see a lot of freedom for the guards to shoot.

Are they gelling as a team? Are they feeling good about a bracket run?

It would be nice to have a true PG to run the offense. We all saw how disjointed we could look with the ball at times last season. But ... the roster is what it is at this point. And, true Point or not, it does look good!

Maybe one of the new additions will yet surprise us in that distributor/facilitator/scorer role and provide the calming influence and leadership we lost when Wong left.

I agree with you as to liking/wanting a more traditional PG, but as to your last point, my nephew is not going to morph into a distributor. He has been raised since he was a baby to score.

And from what I’ve been told, Bethea at this point is best in attack mode. So it seems like, at least to start the season, UM is going to let him play to his strength and attack from the 2 guard spot.

Just my 2 cents.

Bethea is a Philly guard to the max.

Attack, Attack, attack and can finish. I know he is still a bit thin but he was way more advanced than Wong at the same point. Hopefully he has settled into college quickly. I know some people in Philly who have given him the highest praises and said if he works the way he did in High School he will be fine....quick and we better enjoy him while we have him because its 2 years max.

Scoring is the name of the game. (Last I checked a team doesn't get any points for assists).

Hope your nephew and the other shooters score a lot! We don't want to try to drastically change any player's game.
